Photographer's Note
An elderly Indian devotee is carried by two Kashmiri porters as she makes her way towards Amarnath Cave, to pay her respects to an ice shivling dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. The annual pilgrimage to the 12,800 feet high cave-shrine begins in June and thousands of Hindu devotees reach the shrine within a two month period.

Hello. Terrific picture--tightly framed, creative POV. I like her calm look compared to the struggling porters. Well done!

This is great anjan all those converging lines and traingles occuring throughout the image - like a naturally occuring yantra!! - i very much like the expressions - i like to see the primary colours or their derivatives in images - here that little bit of red is so subtly present against the sky and the yellow of her top - it just gives the image a little extra life.
great stuff!
best wishes Kev

Really a great shot.
All the lines pointing to the woman's head, the different facial expressions, and the incidental detail of the tents on the left all combine to make a wonderful photo.
Thanks
Brian

Great compo. People looks so small close to these huge mountains but really inspired and motivated at the same time.
We have a great feeling of peace which is incredible since the effort to walk in such a place must be really exhausting.
That's a great piece of photojournalism Anjan !

Fabulous shot, how far did they carry this lady? All the way from the plains? How much did she pay? Did they mind you taking the photo?

Great composition. Makes me wonder what position you were in to take it. You did very well, especially if you had to take it walking backwards.

a very nice shot, typical of the pilgrim places. Amarnath being a Hindu shrine, and the porters most often are muslims (the man on the left probably is!).
You can add a note on the "Chhari Mubarak" and also on the story of the Muslim shepherd, Adam Malik, discovered the cave four centuries ago. His descendants still receive a share of the cash and other offerings made by devotees to the Hindu god at the cave.
the Yatra season is coming up. Our beloved Claude Renault plans to make the Yatra this time. We will miss his shots in TE though.
very good POV, only that the sharpness could have been even better.
Best,
Arnab

Hi Anjan,
Excellent capture and aproach composition of these three, with the attracted mountains in the back. Very well balanced shot, taken from a very interesting and original POV. I love the expressions of the porters in contrast with the proud pose of the elderly. Very well done!

Absolutely amazing pov you have chosen - placing the two men in each side of the image with the woman in the middle and with the huge mountains as a beautiful background.
