Photographer's Note

A gil in Varanasi at the main ghat. She was with a family on a pilgrimage to holy Ganges river. I just had to capture her face. I took one shot and she run away to her parents. And afeter several minutes someone touched my back - it was her father with her - he wanted me to photograph her. But she wasn't so happy about it ;)
India is such a great place to photograph people. I wat to come back here again.
I am in Delhi now, waiting for a new passport, tomorrow maybe i will go back to Hong Kong. I sill have one month time before going back to Poland, I think I can't live without photography... maybe i will buy a camera and go soemewhere again, even for two weeks.

Great portrait, the arm in the crop gives that innocence feeling lots of kids give, as if she was scratching her hair as a subconscient way of expressing her wonder and maybe fear of the photographer. She's beautiful and got amazing eyes. The title matches the atmosphere perfectly. Glad to read about your passion and trip. Farewell!

Superbe photo, la petite fille est déjà très féminine, la façon de jouer avec ses cheveux est un signe qui ne trompe pas. J'aime beaucoup l'intensité de son regard. Très bien vu.

superb portrait maciek.... glad to see that you eventually take the bright side of things.. the show must go on as the song says...i am sure you will buy something new and enjoy it all again and forget about this accident.. your photo is really neat, no wonder the father wanted you to portray her;-)) just a question : were you able to keep some of your pics or was everything lost for good?

Maciek, strasznie przykro usłyszeć, że straciłeś wszystko...
Wiem coś o tym, spotkało mnie to całkiem niedawno. Zapytaj Claude'a, mailowałem z nim o tym. Z tego co wiem to on też przeżył podobną historię w Boliwii.
Wiem, że cię to niezbyt pocieszy, ale taki niestety jest świat.. Nie zrobisz dobrego zdjęcia gdy nie wyciągniesz aparatu..

Na pewno dasz sobie jakoś radę i stopniowo odkupisz co trzeba.

Serdecznie pozdrawiam Maciek! Wracaj szczęsliwie do Polski!

BTW bardzo dobry portret.

Hi Maciej, perfect picture: you got that typical look of an Indian girl there, at the same wondering, angry and afraid seeing a white man with that thing , you camera. For a moment she was stiffen there. No way she would give you a second chance, that was the moment.

Stunning face and eyes you've captured here Maciek. This is a gorgeous image, one of your best portraits to my eyes. I'm sorry the girl was disturbed by having her picture taken, but the emotion registers in her eyes and face so vividly that the picture conveys great emotion. Wonderful work.
