Photographer's Note
This was shot at Halebid temple in Karnataka. It is a wonderful temple of exquisite scultures in soap stone which requires a guide to walk and talk you through the place.
The shot is of an old guide waiting for his first customer for the day even though it was about 4 PM.
Deliberate soft focus to get the mood.
Cheers,
Guru

Guru
I like this image as it is presented in B&W and has placed the figure in the middel of the doorway. However, I don't think the deliberate sof fous works for me.

Hi, Guru.
Very impressive mood with light and shadows...not technically perfect but very interesting.
Best wishes. Grazyna.

Hello Guru.
I like the stark nature here...the strong graphism. THe single soul sitting infront of the bright doorway...a very good idea.
Now, the soft focus doesn't work for me...I think a sharper focus would be much more effective here. Soft focus works well with some portraits because fine details can be less desirable. Silhouettes, on the other hand, are all about contrasts...and they need to be firm and distinctive... Here we should see crisp outlines setting the shadow and light apart.
Hope you don't mind my comments.
Regareds,
Chris.

though blurred i don't know why, i love this picture. it has a certain mood, it gives the pic a more stronger emotion in the sense of that this guide is waiting all day long for a customer that didn't come. love it

Hello Guru
The mood is excellent & the stark contrast quite excellent. But in my opinion, the soft focus doesn't really work here, especially since this is a silhouette. An interesting experiment & framing idea & good choice of B&W. I tried some sharpening in Picassa, just to see how it looks. Hope you don't mind my liberties with your picture
