Photographer's Note
Tazia Tower is one of the major attractions of Jaisalmer, yet surprisingly not many tourists know about or visit this place.
After having done with the various Rajputana architectures scattered in the city, Tazia tower came as a welcome break for me as this was very different in design and execution. The Tower is located in the excellent Badal Mahal (Cloud Palace) complex near the Amar Sagar Gate. These were the homes of the former royal family. The Tazia tower is a 5-storied delicate pagoda like structure where each story has significance in its own. On each floor there is a balcony that is famous for their individual designs. This was built by Muslim craftsmen and is based on the shape of Tazia.
Tazias are ornately decorated bamboo, paper and tinsel replicas of a bier carried in procession during Mohurram. Representing the secular identity of the region, the Muslim craftsmen had constructed the beautiful architectural master piece as gift for the imperial Hindu king of Maharawal Berisal Singh.
Each floor of the Tazia Tower is accompanied with beautifully decorated balconies that add to the grace of the architectural monument. The Tower was erected in the year of 1886 AD and bears relics to the Muslim architectural style of the ancient period.
The exquisite design and fine carvings on the walls and ceilings of each floor of the Tazia Tower reflects the rich artistic creativity and imaginative skills of the local craftsmen of the bygone era.
A simple composition, trying to highlight this impressive 'pagoda', spiced up by the crow on the right perched above the window ledge of an adjacent building.

Hello Angshuman,
That nearest crow has placed itself in a perfect position. The composition may be simple, as you say, but it is immaculate and is given an extra quality from this crow. There is a good balance between the part of a building in the foreground and the tower, and you have found branches of the surrounding trees to frame the architecture completely. Very well done, once again.
Kind regards,
Gert

Quite an astonishing pagoda! One of the best ever seen!
And you framed it in a masterful way, the whole composition is well balanced without showing unnecessary elements. Everything fits well together even that nice crow. And the colours are so appealing! This place is really a paradise for photographers!

Hello Angshu,
Nice composition versus the tower and the vegetation. But to my mind, what makes this photo special, it is the bird. Small in size in the frame, but important when looking the photo.

Really a very aerial architecture, with these thin pillar and large openings, revealing the sky behind. Excellent sharpness again, and well chosen diagonal framing. A very nice shot.

Namaste Angshuman,
A perfect framing in this nice composition.
I like the light low-angle shot and the close-up on the magnificent architectural and ornamental details of this beautiful pagoda.
The light is fantastic, the colors are natural and warm, and the presence of the crow on the eaves to the right adds an interesting touch of life.
An excellent work, my friend.

Your presentation is flawless, I like that you have positioned the tower asymmetrically. The bird make a humorous addition to the view.

Hello Angshu,
Beautiful shot, great composition, all element is well place for a nice ballance spacing. the main bird is also in the right place and I see a few more on the roof of the pagoda. the trees frame the image perfectly.
It is good for you not too many tourists, you have more quiet time. Perhaps there are just so much to see and do in India that you can't do them all. So people have to skip some. I would certainly do a lot reseach using your gallery before I visit India, I don't know when but I will hopfully soon.
