Photographer's Note
Located 15 Km from the city of Jaisalmer, this is a part of the palace of Amar Sagar where the rulers of Jaisalmer used to come in summer to escape the heat of the city.
Amar Sagar, as the name signifies – there used to be lake in here, a small pretty lake adjacent to the 17th century palace. But now it’s a vast open field where local shepherds rear their goats.
Tried to use the tree in the centre which looks like a mummified skeleton with its roots all over the ground, as a 'pivot' for this picture! I understand that after the rainy season, there would be some water in this arid lake-bed. In the far BG, the new age Wind machines, which surrounds the golden city!

Hi Angshu,
Fine composition.
I like the combination of the various elements like the modern windmills, the ancient palce. the treetrunk and the shepherd with his heard.

Bonjour Angshuman
Un joli cliché aux couleurs ocres avec ces gardiens de chevres qui donne de l'animation à l'image.
Merci pour le partage et bonne journée.

Two cultures in one image, and the two very far apart. The wind turbines and pylons from the 20th/21st century and the farmers tending their goats as they have for centuries past. Separating the two you have the walls as if to keep them apart. Interesting shot.

Hello Angshuman! Kath just helped me out, without her I would have not seen the wind turbines but I was rather concentrating on the little herd. Yes worlds collide pretty much in this photo which makes this picture special above. I was just asking myself if there was ever water again but obviously it has sometimes, depending on the season. Yes this has documentary character, totally TE. Have a great week, Barbara.

Hi Angshuman,
The presence of the people and of the goats have an effect of scale. The deserted area leads our eyes toward the fortified walls which is giving depth to the composition. The trees are framing well the fortress. The luminosity has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi, my friend Angshuman,
The aspect of this lake without water is a bit sad, and you have caught it very well in this framing, with a lot of space to the shepherds with his goats and to the palace, but including the modern wind machines, which create an interesting graphical contrast.
Great light and good colors, it is a nice photo.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello my dear prof. Angshuman
Wonderful and beautiful shot as usual.
Good framework, composition and chocolate color tone.
This is the evidence of the climate change all over the world ? but I can see the wind power stations too.
Thanks for sharing and best regards,

Angshuman,

A contrasting view of Hitory and Future blending there with the fort & the background Wind mills!
Nice one.

Hello Angshu Da, nice the place selection though the reality behind it is very sad. You have left some place in foreground where some goats and a dry tree is there. A great contrast is the palace behind the dry lake. The wind mill in the background as if announce the presence of present to the past ( the old palace ). Great composition. Great subject. TFS.

Subhendu.

Hi Angshuman, Interesting composition - an ancient view of the desert and in the background the power windmills. Nice view of the shepherd.

Dear Angshuman
That is a timely reminder of global warming, a lake which is no lake anymore. I like the dead tree in the FG, it is like a symbol of what has been. More DOF is added by the goats walking diagonally what boosts the attractiveness of your photograph. Finally at the BG the red sandstone wall, very nice composition and execution with great sharpness and vivid colors. Well done - thanks for sharing
Best regards

Hi Angshuman
At first, I thought you'd been to the Aral Sea! Good juxtapositioning of the old traditional lifestyle in the fg, & the modern, high tech wind turbines, in the bg. Excellent sharpness & warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

Hi Angshu,
Excellent shot, a combination of east and western culture, past and present technologies. It is obvious that there use to be water here. Love the big view that give us a really good impression of the overall area and the people and goats really show the size of this place. Good work.

Angshuman,
The very theme of the picture is well supported and balanced by its elements on it. Like the Boundary of the Fort with its desolate look; the ongoing Herd in seach of bushes and ofcourse the skeleton tree. This is where your title justifies. Kudos !!!

Hi Angshu.
Une photo qui me plaît avec ses couleurs, dommage que le lac a disparu mais l'arbre et les troupeaux font un beau graphisme sur cette terre aride.
Salutations amicales !

Hi Angshu,
The stump anchors well in the FG and lives space to enjoy the BG and herdsboys in the middle... I never knew there were power windmills in India!

Hi Angshuman,
what a sad sight! You have chosen an excellent POV on this desolated place that obviously testifies the global warming. A very well composed impression in the best spirit of TE. By the way: I am quite sure that these modern windmills are made in Schleswig-Holstein.
Warm regards

Hello Angshu,
An amazing contrast between the goat shepherds living their life as through thousands of year, and the demand for electricity to make the 2009 society work!
The walls of the palace offers a strong eye-catcher in the frame, while the wooden "sculpture" in front creates depth...
Greetings,

Ola amigo ,
Interessante paisagem bem árida deve fazer muito vento devido aos moinhos eólicos no horizonte , e chover mesmo pouco , bonita a forma da velha árvore seca, boas cores, parabéns!!
Um abraço Gonçalo
