Photographer's Note
Within the Jaisalmer Fort walls, there are seven Jain Temples exquisitely carved in yellow sandstone & built between the 12th and 15th centuries. The cluster of temples is connected by a series of corridors and walkways. "As the Jain often walk barefoot to their temples and cover their mouths with a cloth to stop the inhalation of insects, their temples were built in groups, to make the pilgrimage easier. This also gave each temple an identity of its own despite being part of a cluster." Shoes and all leather items must be removed before entering the temple.
These places of tourist interest are dedicated to 1st and 3rd Jain Tirthankar Rikhabdev and Sambhavnath. The most famous among them is the Ashtapadhi Jain temple. A vast chain of corridors connects these temples. Numbering seven in total, these Jain temples in Jaisalmer are built and looked after by the followers of Swetambar Sect. They house some of the most attractive stone sculptures. The first temple one would come around is the one dedicated to Chandraprabhu, the eighth tirthankar (Jain Teacher), whose symbol is the moon. To its right is the Rikhabdev temple. There are some fine sculptures around the walls protected by glass cabinets, and the pillars are beautifully sculpted with apsaras (Celestial Maiden) and gods. This temple has a lovely and tranquil atmosphere.
One of the most splendid works of art is the Parswanath temple, with the dome adorned by beautiful water vases that contains a lotus. The walls of this exquisite shrine is carved with the engravings of animals, gods, dancers, apsaras and humans. Tried to capture the brilliant sculptures differently rather than the conventional 'all-focussed' approach! Would be eager to have your feedback!

Hi Angshu
Great use of the DOF and also fine textures and sharpness of the statue. The uniform color tones and this beautiful blurred BG work well

Good off centering and use of the narrow Dof to isolate your subject, you might want to post this one on the green site there is a project dedicated to photo techniques with part of it being narrow Dof
Have a nice day jY

Hi Angshu
That is well framed, with a good focus on the kiss (only suggested) scene. You could almost have kept it for the Valentine day! And the colors are good. The spot of light that comes to illuminate the scene makes it even more shiny and the stylish black frame is perfectly made, to maximize the impact. Congratulations

Namaste Angshu,
beautiful couple, beautiful picture. The angle is very well chosen. In my opinion it is really better to focus just at the faces in FG, like you've done. It is completely different and shows more expression.
Best wishes

I like it very much Angshuman,
the focus on the sculptured faces at the left while all the rest is blurred creates a very interesting and fine image. The light is excellent here and makes the colours and textures shine. So smart and so essential, it really does justice to this fine art.

Hi Angshuman,
The blurred background is putting in evidence the foreground. The sculptures is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the sculptures. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello angshuman,
I had the pleasure myself to visit Jain temples in Jaisalmer and that doubles the value of your photo for me. A splendid close-up with the couple perfectly in focus and well brought against a background that let's you guess that there is much more to see.

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
Your work with the DOF is very interesting graphically, I like the effect of the brilliant sculptures in the foreground, which they stand out of the rest of the image because of its great sharpness, giving a great three-dimensional sensation.
The result is superb, and the composition is impeccable.
Best regards,

Hi Angshu, I like this close-up very much. Very original photo. The colours of the stone is unusual, also the shape of the eyes is strange. In the Jain temples the figures have often such unnatural eyes. Excellent composition and DOF. It is so nice to see something from Jaisalmer, magic city.

Hi Angshu,
Nice play with words on the title. Yes, the soft background certainly helps enhanced the sharpness of the main sculpture. We can't help but pay full attention to the well defined details and texture of the beautiful work of art. the one on the corner looks like a female and seem to be leaning in to kiss the male sculture. Beautiful composition, good color and litght management. I like it. My complements.

What a magnificent light! It created, together with the shadows an excellent contrast! A good choice of selective focus adding depth into the image.
The texture of that carved sandstone looks like wood!
The photo in ws is also great!

Hello Mr. B,
A tastefully produced image, with a large aperture creating a short focal point. The sharpness of the figures in the foreground are dramatic against the slurry of amorphous shapes in the background. We visited in the Jain Silver Temple in Mumbai in 1997. You must have seen the place during your time now in Mumbai.
Also, congratulations on your fourth year at Trekearth this month.
Warm regards, Angshuman,
