Photographer's Note

Javanese dance is believed to have originated from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is considered to be a classical court dance. Though this dance was influenced and reflects the epic tales of Ramayana and Mahabharata in older times, it is now widely used and intended for art education in spreading Javanese culture in dance form. The slow pace and elegance in movement and its meditative quality characterize this art.

This performance was photographed at Met Leifde Restaurant Cafe in West Java, Bogor, Indonesia.
