Photographer's Note

Another photo from Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. This time I'm really inside the "caldera", behind the volcanoe's chimneys.

Here the sand sea ends and the savanah begins. The green wall is in fact the HUGE crater ridge. To have an idea how big this scene really is, notice the small house (a two man size tall house, but only a dot in the middle of the photo) and compare it to the size of the wall and also noice the distance of that same house until this foreground tree.

PS: I appologise for the 500px larger side and watermark in the frame, but some unauthorized use has happened before in other websites (including mine).

you collection about that NP is fantastic.
colors, light, foggy weather...all is wonderful.
it's a pity that the images are all too small for this reason that you explain!

Your photo is beautiful! I especially like the upslope of the crater. The house gives a great sense of size- this place looks enormous. Thanks for posting!

Hi Joel,

I like the great use of that tree on the right.
Also I like the way you are drown to the volcano, as if it is a black hole. The road that leads to the crater gives a final touch.

Simply fabulous ... the tree stands desolate in the landscape. This photo has so much character. Pity you felt like you had to keep it small.

Wow, that is a strange and impressive view of the caldeira.
The soft color tones are great, and the shape of the caldeira in the background is very mysterious.

Huh, didn't get the picture at first, as the crater ridge and the BG were confusing me, but after having read the note, everything is clear.
Great shot and I wish it was a bit bigger.
Amazing landscape with fine haze lingering and that lovely mist further on.
Excellent colours, too!

Magnificent! The light is spectacular, and the graceful curve of the hills is great. The tree in the foreground provides the perfect accent. Superb!
