Photographer's Note

The southern part of the island of Lombok, also has a Kuta Beach, but it is far superior to the one in Bali. imho. This was taken from the headland (tanjung). Polarized.

The Indonesian is surveying the scene. This area was earmarked for construction of highrise hotels, but the Asian economic crisis in 1997, & the fall of Suharto, appear to have put an end to those plans.

Hi Chris,
A fine capture of Indonesia,nice compo and framing.I like the strong colors and contrasts thanks to the use of the polarizer.Good to include the man in the foreground and the other in the background.

Hi Chris,
A view with the completely ocean on the background, I think very dangerous for the man on the rocks beneath, the other look watchful. Always excellent composition and very good of colours.

Hi Chris,

Not used to seeing people in your shot. This is a superb place with a great potential for the kind of plan that you mention. But all those places should not become touristic, the world should keep some for their beauty. But I can understand why they exist, the attraction of big profit is always powerfull.

Hi Chris, what vivid and lifelike colours! The blue of the ocean is really gorgeous, and makes the photo very inviting. This is well composed, with the rocks in the foreground being balanced by the island in the back. A really nice touch is the boy looking away into the scene, which is open at the right hand side, implying a view that goes on forever. Superb!

Striking and vivid colors in this photo, Chris. The guy in the white shirt having a look is ideally placed and included in the compo that might otherwise be too lifeless. Nice photo.

Hi Chris, A wonderful color combination in this picture. The rock formation is impressive. Good to include the green grass in the foreground. Nice to have the two person in the picture to make a comparison and to have a sense of the size of this place. Well capture of the clear horizon and beautiful decorative cloud. Well done.

I'm very happy to hear that mass tourism doesn't always win. In general it means more good than bad for nature. It would be a pity to see this view being damaged by hotel blocks. Good position of the boy; it gives extra depth I think. Is the sea really so bleu over there? Waaw, nicer colours than the north sea...

The contrast is fantastic. The saturated blue of the sea to the shadow on the elbow of this guy, awesome. This is strange because you are clicking standing right in front of the sun, and there are no glares!! how does one use a polarizer on a digi cam for maximum benefit? i use a canon A510? any suggestions? thanks
