Photographer's Note
Before entering or making a prayer at the temple or shrine in Japan, the hands are washed. This is done even in the outdoors locations in the forest. This is not uncommon to find, moss covered stones shaped to hold water with a small cup to pour water over your hands.

The green and brass tones in the foreground stand out so well against the otherwise soft. Short DOF also a good choice. The cornering of the main subject makes a fine compo. Well done in all its simplicity Dan!

Excellent depth of field in this photograph, with good saturated colors. Your note has really helped me understand the meaning of the photograph.

Interesting note about this religious act. Good use of the DOF and focusing point, all very well controlled. Also like the colors, details and especially textures. The softness of the cup contrast very well with the rough stone.
