Photographer's Note
This photograph is not a conspicuous photograph in particularly. It is the space where the very common citizen of downtown in Tokyo lives every day. The road from which it separated by its side from the main street is extended straightly. On the corner, the fruit shop which became old does business minutely. On both sides of the passage, a private house, an individual store, and the low apartments stand in a row. And, it crosses so that the electric wire from a telegraph pole can be about the air and may be confused. When it sees only from a photograph, it looks similarly to the original scenery of 40 years ago. However, the road in a metropolitan area has been paved by asphalt completely. It seems not to be avoided that housing space also changes according to a time in future so that technical innovation may change the lifestyle, although this place has left the old image now.

You had your reason to show in B&W, Mikio - but I really wonder how a color-version would look like.
It seems to me, to my humble opinion, the place is vivid and colorful.
Anyhow, looking at details, I enjoy the many street elements included.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ike

Hello Mikio,
Tonight Swedish public TV will show the 1953 movie "Tokyo monogatari" by Yasujiro Ozu. I have seen it before and think it's a lovely movie, and I am always reminded of it, and other Ozu movies, when i see your B&W photos from older parts of Tokyo. Narrow streets with small shops, a few people passing by, not much is happening but life goes on at a slow pace and there are many details to discover, one after another, and afterwards you feel a bit richer and wiser.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Kato,
You have managed to combine the perspective provided by the street and the electricity poles on the right with the everyday life sce on the left. I can imagine the person with the bag turning left at the corner and walking down the street.

Hi Mikio
This seems a quiet looking town, it's about depth and perspective I love apart from the general scene with the contrasty white stretched converging lines to catch the eyes offering the strong focal point. Presence of human figs strengthen the sense of space. Good mono treatment, excellent clarity and tonal contrast. Excellent street shot, Congrats.
Best regards

Hi Mikio,
Superb monochrome image, excellent light, nice arrangement. I like the composition with the corner shop in front and the nice view along empty road. Well done. Greetings, Miro.
