Above The Clouds, a photo from Sabah, East

Photographer's Note

I guess there are many reasons why certain people would trek up or climb mountains when they could be sitting comfy in the living room watching HBO or ESPN. And among those reasons, probably one stand out above the rest is to see things you couldn't get to see anywhere else.

And if you just turn around from looking up or down the trail, and look behind you, you might get to see a much better scene than your own shadow or your tormenting mind.

This is the view of the late afternoon clouds at 3000m asl, on the Summit Trail to Laban Rata, the base camp on Kinabalu National Park. The base camp is another 300m to go and it can wait, for you to relish this quiet solitude vista.
Hey man, you are standing, among the clouds!

Maybe, if we human are not in a rush to kill ourselves in this fast lane we are driving on, this planet might lives a little bit longer and better. And...so are we.

An another beautiful from above the clouds, Rabani! I like how the sun light is reflected on the clouds. Nice idea to keep the tree of the right side, it said us: I am perhaps above the clouds but I am always on earth.

Beautiful capture of a unique view. The use of the trees on the left for framing is very effective. I love poking through the clouds while climbing. Unfortunately, in the Canadian Rockies close to where I live now the peaks rarely pierce the clouds.

Anytime anyone wants to do shots up there in the clouds, they should call you! Have you seen Puteri Gunung Ledang, the movie? This one reminds me of the beautiful shots of and from Gunung Ledang -- only yours is more breathtaking! Love this!

This is definitely a great shot to say why it would be worth the trek up a mountain. Excellent composition. The silhouette of the tree in the foreground floats above this beautifully texture field of clouds. It feels like you could walk on these clouds like a solid surface. And I like the way it seems to dip down like a cascade in a part on the right. It's very impressive. Incredible shot. Excellent job.

One word... "WOW!

Great shot, almost feels as though taken from a plane- but better, as there is no dirty window in the way! hahaha
Like the feeling of being ontop of the clouds. This is definately something I want to do before leaving Singapore.

Nice blue tones on the sky and impressive carpet of clouds.

This is a special image. It, you speak to the sights we see in an personal & physical way. Great notes! I suppose there could be lots of ways to post process this image. But then it would not be what you saw and felt.

I like the sun's touch on the horizon and the detail of that area of the frame this is a beauitful shot I must say among the angels one might say. keep up you the good work I like the way you see scenes and objects! I think the tree helps frame the picture in itself well captured!

Just INCREDIBLE ! I could never immagine that one could have this view from a mountain! I've only had similar views on airplanes. In my country (Greece) there are no such high mountais so this image is like science fiction for me! What a beautiful country you have! As picture is perfect, beautiful colours and composition.
