Photographer's Note
Detail photo of famous Kuala Lumpur Clock Tower in standard, non festive, light.
The clock tower that forms a part of magnificent Sultan Abdul Samad building. This building which was designed, in unique moorish-style, by British architect A.C Norman was completed in 1897. The architect added an Islamic touch that suitably reflects the cultural background of Malaysia to the mostly Renaissance design.
This is the most photographed building in the city, with a 40m clock tower affectionately dubbed "Big Ben", topped with a golden dome and flanked on both sides by two domed towers.
The clock tower is significant to many major events and it was also used in the countdown to independence on the eve of 31st August 1957.
During state occasions, colored lights twinkle in the arches, making it look like a scene from an Arabian Nights' tale.

Salut cher Miro
A stunning close up with excellent architectural details and colours. The clockface is a little over-exposed but in this situation it's difficult to expose enough for the darker details of the architecture aswell.
Bonne amitiés

Hi Miro,
Now that I've taken more time to look over this photo, I think I actually like it just a bit more than the wider view previously shown. This has more of an intimate, close up feel and shows of some great detail. I really like the warm tones from the artificial lighting, which works so well in contrast to the bright clock face's. The multi-colored string bulbs are a nice little bonus element here, adding just a hint of extra color without being distracting. A beautiful tower with intriguing design, and you've done a wonderful job to display it proudly. Thanks for sharing the perspective. Have a great day.
Best wishes from the States,
Jason

Hello Miro,
Your detailed note informs extraordinary photograph of Kuala Lumpur's Clock Tower. I briefly visited Malaysia in 2000, ostensibly to give some lectures at the Technical University of Malaysia in Johor Bahru. Then my hosts took me for a day to Kuala Lumpur where I saw the Petronas Towers, but little else. At the time the Petronas Towers, and for a short time afterwards, the twin towers were the tallest man-made structures on the plane. Now they've been supplanted by so many others for that dubious record. But this is the type of architecture that I am most interested in seeing.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Dear Mirosu,
This building is very much photographed, but such a close up of the clock is less common. I like seeing it presented this way!
