Photographer's Note
On an early morning stroll around the island, I spotted this fellow fishing in the shallows. Unfortunately I only had the wide angle lens with me as I was intending to get some drift wood shots, but in the end, he was too engrossed in what he was doing to notice me creeping up on him for a closer look. I still had to crop the picture quite harshly, but I'm pleased with the end result.
In light of some of your comments, I have posted a work
shop cropping the frame further to remove the distracting jetty. I didn't do this originally as I thought it would place the heron to close to the top of the frame. I'd be interested in your comments on the difference.

Hi Sarah, its been a long time. Nice photo to return with. Quite different from your more colorful Maldives shots. This is almost like a pink sepia. I love the warm tones of the sand and water. Too bad for the lens, Im sure a telephoto would have made your job much easier, but then the hard work makes us appreciate our photos more.

Hi Sarah,
The low morning sun play on the waves brings clarity to the view, and even being on the sand in a shady part the "fisherman" stands out well by contrast. Maybe I'd crop a bit more on the top and to the left. Wow, shooting with a 10-22 you must have been quite close !
Have a nice evening,
Jean-Yves

Hi Sarah,
Beautiful color here !! I like this goldy reflexion just in front of it, and the braking wave as well, very well done, Sarah.
I just have to say that I don't really like the upper right corner, this jetty (?) coming here is a bit disturbing in my opinion.
Cheers,
Youssef.

Wonderful shot with excellent framing and composition : the fisherman at the border of dry and humid zone and drab and glistening zone.
Well done.

Hi Sarah, This is a perfect catch of the bird posing to your lens. The background beach sand and the wave are beautiful under the morning rising sunlight. A great details, clarity and sharpness. A beautiful shot.

Hi Sarah
Lovely light effects and textures. Shame about the intrusion in the top left corner but I love the picture anyway - the pose of the heron is really well captured

Beautiful capture of the blue (or gray?) heron, Sarah. The bird is of course ideally placed in the frame, and the special effect of the morning light reflected off the surf is essential for the mood of this one. Very nice photo.

Good shot. Excellent composition, always difficult with nature subjects as they have a habit of moving just when you don't want them to!
