Direct to the issue... I like this photo because of the framing avoiding all possible background, and also because of the subject. Great face that seems to be very lived.

Im sure the color version is not as good as this
I like the tight crop here and a very good DOF

wow! the quality is great , it looks like a silver gelatine print! and it is so sharp with great detail! For such a tight portrait, it is fantastic... the expression, everything. very nice job. any tips on what you did to convert it?

Not in B&W but you got quite some expressive character portrait here with perfect contrast and sharpnes, a very clear one, showing all details, fine capture Tom.

Plein de détails, le neunoeil légèrement chassieux et la dentition conquérante : c'est la profusion des détails, y compris les rides qui répondent aux multiples plis et poils du cahpeau, qui à mon avis fait la qualité de ce portrait.

Brilliant portrait Tom, contrast is very good. I would like to know how you convert so well to B&W. Maybe shootign in RAW makes the difference
