Photographer's Note

Le village d’In Dein, au bord du lac Inle, est célèbre pour les mille stupas de la pagode d’Alaungsitthou, construits depuis le XIème siècle et surtout aux XVIIème et XVIIIème siècles
Victimes de pillages au cours des siècles, ils sont peu à peu restaurés par les riches birmans, qui ont le privilège de laisser trace de leur donation au pied des stupas

The village of In Dein, close to the banks of Inle lake, is famous for the 1000 stupas of Alaungsitthou pagoda, built since 11th century and more intensively in 17th and 18th centuries
Victims of numerous pillages, they are progressively restored by rich Burmese people who have the privilege to leave track of their donation at the feet of stupas

what a great pair of eyes you have! What can I say this shot?.. an architectural shot or daily life? Love the blend... The semi-silhouettes works well as a foreground with those beautiful golden coloured stupas at BG. Great shot. Tfs.

Hello Patrick,it`s always nice to view a picture that tells a story or stirs the imagination,here I enjoy the contrast between the the figures in the shade,one moving, the other at rest and the bright golden stupas in the BG.

The 1000 Stupas looks certainly out of the old here in color as well as texture.Very attractive capture in great contrasts and colors. The boy running and lady sitting idle have silhouette have a wonderful effect on the scene.You have framed it very well - great work.TFS.

a wonderful photo defined by a very attractive scenery and an extraordinary series of contrasts. Your point of view and composition are superb, you've given effective perspective both to the foreground and to the amazing background. I love the warm light that is reflected by the gold stupas, the blue of the sky is mesmerising and provides the best chromatic contrast. There's also the contrast between sunshine and shade, splendour and simplicity, movement and stillness, timelessness and transience. Congratulations and thank you!

Hello Patrick,
I can remember one of your previous shots kept in this unique,pensive mood(I think it was the image called Meditation).I must say this one is a magnificent compliment to this subject and Myanmar seen through your lens seems to be amazing and one of a kind place on Earth.
I really like here so strong juxtaposed FG(nicely shaded and moody) with so lovely illuminated and kept in golden shades BG.

Hi Patrick,
a very contrasty picture in all its meanings. Daily cares next to the golden wonder. Love the listless posture of the person on the right (can't decide if it's the boy's mother or some other guy) as opposed with the swiftly moving figure of the boy. Great capture.

An excellent shot,Patrick. The light and colour are beautiful. But mostly the kid's movement added on more interest on the photo, it made a wonderful contrast of static and movement.

It is a wonderful opportunity - an engaging human story set against the golden stupas in the backdrop - with beautiful light. The silhouetted figs are where the eye starts, it explores the background afterwards and both are sharp in focus with great dof. These elements complement one another so very well indeed. You have taken quite a few successful shots from this place!
Very nice picture with extremely different exposure contrast and yet the details we see of the man sitting in the shade and the running child enlivens the picture of the brightly shining stupas against the blue sky!

This is a very original shot. I like the partial silhouettes in the shadows, the resting adult and the lively child, with the golden reflection on the tiled floor. The golden stupas in the BG are magnificent. This is a picture with interesting arrangement of subjects and certainly not a classic tourist shot - excellent!

Always great to see a photo of Burma! I guess I don't have photos of these stupas but they seem really interesting. I like the composition with the almost silhouettes of the people and the beautiful golden stupas in the sun light. The boy gives a good sense of movement. Good capture!

Bonjour Patrick,

As much as I like your most recent post, I kept coming back to this one tonight. Perhaps it's my fondness for silhouettes, but no matter the reason, this is a wonderful image. The golden stupas are evident and most prominent here, but it's the sensation of calm contradicting with the action of the little boy in motion in this setting that really grabs my focus. It's a delightful mixture of the two elements, all set in front of these impressive structures that carry so much color, detail and light. Enjoy the day ahead.
