Glory of the pilot, a photo from Ayeyarwady, South

Photographer's Note

Our plane was just hitting the southern tip of the Ayeyarwadi state of Myanmar during a Mumbai to Bangkok flight, when I saw this optical phenomenon called a glory
A small, circular rainbow down on the clouds...

Pilots see it quite often, so it is also called "glory of the pilot"

Alors que nous survolions la pointe sud de l'état de l'Ayeyarwadi en Birmanie, j'ai vu cet étonnant phénomène optique sur les nuages, presque 10 000 m plus bas... Ca s'appelle une "gloire".
Fréquemment observée par les pilotes d'avion, on l'appelle aussi gloire du pilote.

je connaissais sous le nom de spectre de broken (à priori ce n'est pas tout à fait la meme chose...on peut en voir de superbes ici: http://www.alainherrault.com/fr/portfolio-2629-0-40-arc-en-ciel-broken-et-parhelie.html)
j'en ai vu au retour d'Ethiopie en survolant l'allemagne mais pas reussi à en faire une photo aussi belle.....
une tres belle photo en tout cas et plutot rare....au dessus d'un joli ciel egalement!

Je cherchais l'ombre de l'avion mais je viens de lire ta réponse à Véro! En tout cas, gloire au photographe qui a parfaitement saisi l'occasion de photographier ce phénomène rare.

Hello Laurent,

It is not easy to get a decent shot from a plane through a perplex window & often with shuddering jerky movement of the aircraft too, but here you've succeeded. Nice repetitive patterns of the clouds with good sharpness & an excellent rainbow spectrum circle at right to add interest. Tfs!

Une diffusion arc-en ciel attire notre regard dans cette image,au dessus des nuages c'est un espace qui nous interpelle et si j'étais placé à ce point de vue je me poserais la question suivant:
Pourquoi tant de haine sous ces nuages ?

Incredible shot something I have no knowledge about and thanks to your posting, frankly this is the first time I see this. This is truly amazing to be able to get the shot like this, I can not say how envious of you I am seeing this. It would be incredible to wittness this let alone have your camera out and ready to capture it. Extremely impressive this is sick, i've never seen anything like it before :)

Bonjour, cher ami Laurent,
un phénomène peu habituel, de fait je ne l'ai jamais vu durant mes voyages en avion, et que tu as eu la chance de capter avec ton appareil photo. L'image est impressionnante, avec ces cercles lumineux sur une mer de nuages, avec un fort effet optique.
Malgré la prise à travers de la fenêtre de l'avion, la photo a une bonne netteté.
