A monk in Botataung, a photo from Yangon, South

Photographer's Note

Bo means "leader" and tahtaung "a thousand" - Botataung Pagoda is named for the thousands of military leaders who escorted relics of Buddha brought from India over 2000 years. Botataung is hollow inside and can walk through it. It's a sort of mirrored maze inside the pagoda with glass showcases containing many ancient relics and artifacts found in the earlier pagoda. Above this interesting interior, the golden pagoda spire rises 40 meters (132 feet).

The picture I show you today is that of a monk of this pagoda, which is ready to pose for me inside of it, my memory on Myanmar, especially the warmth of its people.

Bo significa "líder" y tahtaung "un millar " – la Pagoda Botataung se llama así por los millares de líderes militares que escoltaron las reliquias de Buda traidas desde la India hace más de 2000 años. Botataung está hueca en su interior y se puede andar a través de ella. Es una especie de pequeño laberinto dentro de la pagoda con vitrinas de cristal que contienen muchas de las antiguas reliquias y artefactos encontrados en la anterior pagoda. Sobre este interesante interior, el chapitel de la pagoda dorada se eleva 40 metros (132 pies).

La imagen que hoy os muestro es la de un monje de esta pagoda, que se presto a posar para mi en el interior de la misma, mi recuerdo sobre Myanmar, es sobre todo la calidez de sus gentes.

Interesting portrait of the Myanmar monk. Nice picture with interesting lights and shadows. Botataung is the pagoda that we didn't visit. My memories from Myanmar and the people there are also wonderful.
