I post this with little irony of fate.
This shot was taken at “ big drum” restaurant in Nyaung Shwe.
Restaurants are closed and my combined fridge& freezer is broken since a few days, but I ordered a new one on black Friday.When I took this shot in 2014, 1000 Kyat has been about
1 Euro. Choose your dish and enjoy your meal!
My favourite was : fried noodles with chicken and vegetables and a big avocado salad with roasted peanuts.
Would love to be there now!

Hi Ronny,a difficult choice,pork pineapple curry for me...but this restaurant is very cheap, so i can eat other dishes..ehehe...very nice and original pic,and obviously i like it!! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ronny,
Prices comparable to those in Laos.
I remember when I visited Myanmar in 1997 that many restaurants had quite an extensive menu with predominantly Chinese dishes.
There was also a Burmese cuisine but more difficult to find. The dishes there had a more Indian flavour.
In the restaurants with the Chinese menu always Burmans worked but the owner (not often seen) was a Chinese.
Is this still the case?

It looks a very Chinese menu to me. Did you have trouble finding genuine Burmese food? You certainly wouldn't go broke at those prices.

hello Ronny, Haha, you are missing your trips, so do I. Funny composition with the menu from the Burmese restaurant. The meals are cheap for Western tourists and I am sure they are delicious. Usually, I take something sweet-sour, could be chicken or pork. But fried noodle with the chicken and vegetables would be nice too.

Hello Ronny,
Same feeling here, love seeing this kind of simple yet appetizing 'menu'.
I like the street scene behind the menu, a lunch with 'a view' peace and quiet ambience. Only the foods and a cold Beer to enjoy.
First thing I usually look for , the special 'Dish of the day'. Otherwise, steam Rice with Veg and Fish Tofu(fried) curry or chicken with ginger n garlic ( if available ).
I don't see any deserts ...... anything with banana ( pudding or cake ).
Oh dear, am I ordering too much? Why not , its cheap :-)
