Photographer's Note

Sur les berges du fleuve Ayeyarwady, la nuit tombe vite. Il faut se préparer.
Les troupeaux rentrent près des maisons de bois.
Des feux apparaissent un peu partout et recouvrent la vallée d'une brume artificielle qui pique les yeux.
C'est à ce prix que les moustiques iront ailleurs.
Le pêcheur, dans un dernier effort, tente sa chance avant que la nuit ne soit trop noire.
La vie est paisible et rurale.
Magnifique est ce fleuve.

Je rentre à peine de 3 semaines dans les Etats Kachin, Chin et Rakhayn. Des images plein la tête.

On the banks of the Ayeyarwady river, the night fall quickly. It is necessary to prepare.
The herds return close to the wood houses.
Fires appear a little everywhere and cover the valley with an artificial fog which pricks the eyes.
This is the price which the mosquitos will go elsewhere.
The fisherman, in a last effort, tries his chance before the night is not too black.
The life is peaceful and rural.
Splendid is this river.

I just return from 3 weeks in the States Kachin, Chin and Rakhayn.
My mind is full with images.

Bonjour, Bertrand. Le pêcheur qui lance son filet est très bien placé dans ta composition. Il attire directement le regard. Tu as saisi le mouvement au bon moment, quand le filet est étendu et qu'il capte la lumière. L'arrière-plan nous laisse voir les troupeuax qui entrent. Cela apporte un bon contraste avec les couleurs plus claires du fleuve.

Salut Bertrand, well come back with lots of amazing photos to share with us. I bet that this one is just the first of an increadible series. A magnificent action shot taken at the a perfect timming. I love the river atmosphere and the almost 'ghost' scene in the background. The lighting gave a beautiful silver effect.

Une belle lumière de fin de journée et un moment superbement figée.
Bon timing, ce filet dans les airs, la position des bras et de la jambe....excellent.
La lumière vient frapper ce filet et laisse le reste dans une légère ombre intéressante....vraiment bon.

Salut Bertrand et bon retour en France donc..3 semaines de dépaysement je suppose..et beaucoup de photos sûrement..Tu commences ici avec une très belle photo..un bon timing pour donner du mouvement.
J'ai un petit regret sur les couleurs un peu plates, ca manquent un peu de contrastes, de peps mais la scène reste elle, superbe.

Cette composition est une jolie scène de vie quotidienne sur le fleuve avec la vie rurale que l'on devine en arrière plan. Un joli lancé de filet sous une belle lumière de fin de journée.

je suis content de te retrouver après une absence qui m'a parue bien longue.
Et le retour se fait avec une photo de qualité, avec des lumières qui se concentrent magiquement à l'endroit du point fort de la scène, avec ce pecheur dont on perçoit le mouvement du filet.
L'excellente profondeur de champs, isole encore plus cette scène.

Yesterday I was a bit sad because I saw that one of our co-members was posting his last photo on TE (I'm speaking of Rosaline / Aubrey Stoll) but I'm glad that you're back from your trip and with excellent quailty works to present us.
This fisherman throwing his net to the sea ws perfectly captured right in the decisive moment of the scene, we almost can see him running into the sea and throwing the net.
The watercolors , the light reflecting on it and the background semi-blurred completes very well the scene.
This is an excellent wotk from you, glad that you're back.

Bonjour et welcome back! Je sens que nous allons vivre quelques moments d'emerveillement dans les semaines a venir a partager tes images de ce pays si fascinant. Je ne sais pas si ce pecheur a ttrape quelques poissons avec ce lancer de filet, et sans doute ne saura-t-il jamais la belle lumiere que toi tu as su attraper dedans. Les fumees si birmanes par derrierre qui creent ce que nous percevons comme une atmosphere un peu brumeuse ou la lumiere diffuse si bien et dans laquelle les silhouettes des buffles s'avancent vers leur destination du soir, que tout cela est poetique, magique et merveilleux. Merci pour cette belle image qui fait surgir tant de reves et de souvenirs de la ou ils s'etaient enfouis pour un temps.

J'aurai aimé la voir en vraie, on se sent bien à voir ce pêcheur au travail dans un geste "parfait" et ces vaches qui passent au fond donnent un tempo très lent à toute l'action.

Un vrais soulagement parmis toutes les autres.
Excellente lumière fine sur le pêcheur et le troupeau à l'arrière plan.

La lumière est splendide, la scène est extraordinaire, elle date du moment où l'humanité a su gérer ses propres ressources : la pêche et l'élévage.
Bref tout concourre à faire une photo formidable.

Un seul problème, que j'orienterais vers un choix de matériel : cet objo 75/300 manque de singulièrement contraste, ragrde ton pêcheur...c'est dommage d'avoir le meilleur capteur sur le marché avec le 5D et un objectif qui très honnêtement n'est pas à la hauteur. S'il est en plus cassé comme je l'ai lu, dirige-toi vers le 70/200 f/4L ou, mieux : il vient de sortir une version IS de ce même objo L... 1200€ quand même.

Hi Bertrand. Even the thumbnail of this picture was good enough to catch my eye. You have caught the moment perfectly. As the fisherman thows his net the sun catches it perfectly. The composition and colours are superb and even though the background is well subdued, enough remains to complete the story. Excellent.

Comment ne pas répéter tout ce qui a déjà été écrit, et ce, sans lire tout ce qui a été écrit? C'est que vois-tu, je préfère nettement passer mon temps en regardant cette photo qui a ce petit je ne sais quoi d'apaisant pour l'âme, que de lire les critiques.
Alors, je regarde, suivant tantôt le troupeau. Ou encore, mon oeil s'accroche dans les mailles du filet qui est toujours sur le point de tomber, mais qui reste suspendu dans son vol, comme mon regard qui le suit. Ou je regarde ces bras ouverts, ou le pied en équilibre. Et cette lumière sublime, celle qui traverse l'arrière-plan, celle qui s'est prise dans le filet... C'est beau...

ayant un peu laché prise ces derniers temps, je constate etre passé à coté de plein de bien belles choses. Il m'est difficile d'en choisir une.
celle ci tout est dit. mais je ne fais que rajouter le grand plaisir que j'eprouve à la parcourir.
je te souhaite tout ce qu'il y a de meilleur pour toi et pour tous ceux qui te sont chers, et dieu sait qu'au coeur d'un combat comme le tien, ils doivent être nombreux.

En voyant ton image et en lisant ta note, on a une énorme impression d'exotisme un peu comme si cela se passait sur une autre planète. Puis à la deuxième vision, et à la deuxième lecture, l'impression s'inverse et on jurerait que la scène se passe devant nos yeux.
Et tant pis pour les moustiques!
