Photographer's Note
Another nice smile from Nepal, but this is a very different perspective to the portrait shot that I posted a couple of days ago. I took this one whilst photographing some buildings in one of the small squares off the backstreets between Thamel and Durbar Square. These two girls (I think they were sisters) were watching me from a second storey window for a while, and then came downstairs and followed me around. The girl in the red dress was quite shy, but the girl in the brown dress kept trying to peer into my camera lens – so I took this shot as she was trying to do just that. I liked the way this turned out, with the other girl almost hidden behind – sort of accentuating her shyness. I used a wide aperture to minimise the DOF so that even the girl behind her was slightly out of focus.
The blotchy skin of the girl in the foreground is not a PP problem or flash reflection (I didn’t use any fill flash) – she did have some sort of skin ailment, but seemed to have a very cheerful disposition despite that. The colours are very soft because it was heavily overcast (hence the slow shutter speed despite the wide aperture), but the skin tones are true to life.

Nice blur for the background, and superb detail and colours for your topic. Good off-centering and an overall quality photo. Thanks for posting.
All the best,

She got a very nice pose and smile, cute to see the other girl hiding a bit, good use of DOF to spot them out nicely placed in the frame.
