Photographer's Note
Kala Patthar is the ultimate destination on this trek. Even though the end destination is really the first Everest Basecamp before we turn around and head back. But from the base camp you actually don’t have the view of Everest. The whole area is beautiful and so impressive but people have different expectation. But the ultimate view of Everest lies up on the peak of Kala Patthar. From this shot you can see the little village of Gorakshep where most trekkers stay overnight and ascent to Kala Patthar to see the sun rise over Everest. You can also see the trail leading up the peak of Kala Patthar. Kala Pattar itself is not much, just a mound of black rocks, It is the view from up there that we go for, which I posted before.

FANTASTIC decision, Way, to render the sky so dark. It underscores the "other-world" feeling of this scene.
As usual, very, very well done!

Hey Way,
Great to have you back around, always a pleasure to hear from you. What a super shot, this offers quite an attractive view...but I'm getting a little lightheaded from the altitude. :) I like what you've done here with the editing, the black & white scheme works well, and it has the appearance of an infrared effect. The stark contrast distinctly separates the rugged mountain tops from the sky, and puts focus on the two trekkers in the near foreground. I think Russ summed it up, it has an "other-worldly" feel. Enjoy the weekend. Take it easy.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Sabaidee Way
Awe inspiring viewpoint and scenery smartly treated in mono version, a shot that takes your breath away with the mighty snow covered 7000m peak fitting the bg stunningly. You're lucky enough to see - an absolutely stunning part of the world well worth the climb Way!! because I know only too well how difficult to reach to that level, and this evokes the majesty and wonder of the sensational location - the inclusion of the climbers works really well. Spectacular - everyone's dream shot, and what more can I say this is an incredible shot. Thanks for sharing, My Compliments:))

Hi Way,
Breath taking view, literally I suppose. I see a path here. Is it possible to go to such a high altitude without special climbing? Gorgeous picture, these white peaks against the black sky look surreal. Stunning sharpness. And good idea to include also other people there. Haha, the path to this black hill looks inviting, I could go there :).
You are very brave.

Ciao Way
una meraviglia di paesaggio, il b&w ne esalta le cime appuntite e la scala dei grigi è infinita.
Ottima la presenza delle persone, eccellente la loro posizione.
Un bellissimo scatto, di grande qualità.

Hello Way,
The black and white picture cares for an extraordinarily panorama view.
I am no great fan of black and white, but these picture is wonderful, certainly through the addition of the people between the rocks.
Lovely composition, nice presentation too through the excellent sharpness.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

Hello Way,
This is a breathtaking mountain view. The B&W works so well here as it creates such a great contrast of the snow-capped peaks with the sky. Great work!

Hello Way,
Your choice for black & white gives the picture a high dramatic accent.
Especially with the integral black sky.
A beautiful and strong contrast between the white peaks and the sky.
Excellent composition and depth.

a beautifully rendered B&W study of this amazing "roof of the world" skyline. It must be an awesome trip and this shot sums up that motive so perfectly.

Hello Way,
I am always impressed by your images. This one is no exception. An excellent B&W conversion. The darkening of the blue channel creates a nicely contrasting sky against the bright snow covered mountains. Excellent detail and sharpness. The mountain hikers on the walking track are nicely position in the image.

Hello Way,
A rare B&W photo in your gallery, but the composition has not lost any of its glory from the conversion. You have placed the two mountaineers perfectly on the third, along one of the several diagonals. The scenery is overwhelming and there is a very impressive range of grey, black and white tones.
Kind regards,

Magnificent shot, Way Lim...different from the rest, it is presented in B&W, hence it lends a special feeling to the scene. Ah, these hikes are pretty tough, and what's important is that you made it !

beautiful composition and interesting use of the B&W to turn the sky black. Don't know if it is but it looks a bit ominous that way!

Hi Way,
That is one rough landscape! At least from this B&W version I can't recognize any growing plants. Your angle is well chosing showing strong perspective. Also people are well placed. I know sky looks darker on the thin air up there, but still that effect looks overdone to me.

Hello Way
I'm always keen on monochrome images, and this is one out of the top drawer. The range of tones is excellent, so the contrast is optimised. And that sky reminds me of the days when we plonked a deep red filter over the lens when loaded with b/w film. The inclusion of the figures is also important. A fine image.

Hola Way
Interesting pp work turning the photo to B/W, a black sky helps with contrast at the mountains closing the capture at the back
Well chosen the location of the trekkers, admiring the landscape that of course was worth to climb
Well done, regards

spectacular view from these impressive mountains. I like very much the black and white rendering. It works perfectly here. The two people in the scene add also a nice touch and a bit better sense of scale.

Hello Way!
I did not go trekking but must have seen these same peaks 6 times in 3 return flights between Nepal and east India and Bangkok, in Cosmic Buddha and Thai Airways flights. The high elevation has given an intense blue sky which has converted well in a nice deep shade of grey bordering on black. The 2 climbers animate the shot. Tfs!

The picture looks stunning in B&W...in fact the conversion has been done superbly. What would have a deep blue sky looks pictch black and creates a sharp contrast with the crisp white snow peaks...Lovely!
The decision to convert was an excellent one!

Hello Way,
I've been away some time but it is a treat to view your gallery again! This photo is very representative of your style that I have enjoyed so many times: dramatic scenery and an excellent composition. I particularly like the trekkers in this shot - the small humans dwarfed by the huge landscape.
My compliments also for the notes!

Hello Way,
Amazing light and sharpness. The filter adds a great contrast between the snowy summits and the sky. Even if the picture is in B&W, I can imagine the colours of the landscape. That's full of details. Another great job from your part.
