Photographer's Note
It's a common sight on the trails of Nepal to see porters carrying big loads on their backs, but this one was the biggest that I saw. I'm not sure what he's carrying, possibly empty plastic containers, but the the sheer size of the load is what is amazing. The poor guy was almost invisible under this load, which was about twice as high as he was, and much wider. It's just an example of how hard the local Nepalese people have to work.

Hi Alvin,
impressive image, witness of "how hard the local Nepalese people have to work".
I'm thinking to do a "theme" to remember this.
Regards,
Davide

This is an interesting daily life capture from Nepal,Alvin!
Your compo shows how hard the work really is.
I tried a WS to make the compo a little bit off-centered and clearer.

Superbe photo. Effectivement, ils n'ont pas un travail facile et je comprends pourquoi ils peuvent être fatigués à la fin de la journée...
Merci pour le dépaysement.
Bravo ! /David/

A very vivid depiction of daily life, Alvin. Nice framing to put it in context, too. I guess part of what makes life treacherous over there is that if you become unable to do this sort of work, what else is there?
Anyway, it must have been a great trek!

Under this big loads I'm under the impression that it is a child boy, it's look so big and heavy. Thanks for sharing your trek.

Hi Alvin - impressive load carried by this man Excellent timing. This remonds me of my favourite comic book from childhood when Captain Haddock(where I get my name) meets his Nepali counterpart when they bump into each other and start a foul-mouthed shouting match.

Very fun image, Alvin. You're right: your composition really shows how this person is lost amongst his load!

Hello Cormac, I'm gradually going back through your gallery to appreciate some of your earlier posts. I love this one as it graphically demonstrates the awesome loads that these guys carry. I remember trekking there with a heavy rucksac that I could barely lift but the porter just tossed it into a basket on his back, threw two more in with it, and sprinted off down the track. They're incredible.
