Photographer's Note
View over the largest settlement in the Khumbu region, fammous for its weekly market. There has been a lot of new building here since the first climbers passed through more than 50 years ago. Last chance to stock up on supplies for those trekking higher, to Everest Base Camp, Gokyo etc. Amazing what's available! Bakery highly recommended! We stayed in Namche for a couple of nights and went up to the Everest View Hotel for an acclimatisation walk, photo taken as we climbed up from the village. Taken with a Canon G3.

This is the sharpest and the best of all Namche pictures I have ever seen. I first visited Sagarmatha National Park in 1982. I went back in 1986 and then in 1994. Your beautiful picture of Namche evokes memories and also shows in vivid detail how the place has changed over the years. Great job, Steve!

Superb shot of Namche - stands out from the typical shot. Colours, contrast and view point are excellent. I cannot fault it at all. Even the blue haze in the distance and the relative clarity of the foreground enhance the picture. What month was the photo taken? I was there in Nov 2000 and the whole place definitely looked more 'wintery'. I would love to go back.
