Fishing Boat, a photo from Cebu, Central Visayas

Photographer's Note

This is a typical low tide scene in Bantayan Island, Cebu. The boat in the foreground is a pump boat, locally referred to as 'pam bot', which is used mainly by the locals for fishing. They are powered by a sort of small gasoline or diesel single-cylinder engine which might be used to drive a water pump. They are widely used all throughout the Philippines.

A good BW image where you lifting out the boat from the rest of the picture in a good way, maybe the byliner takes a little to much attention.

I see that the quality of your B&W photos is improving by the day. Very nice photo.
But Philippines is so colourful that I might think that the colour option for this kind of photo would be better.

The whiteness of the boat is impressive, full of light. I regret your slightly cut its reflection in the water, but it is a detail. The landscape on the right offers good contrast and I like this cloudy sky.

Hello Renier,

The last three pictures in B&W this is certainly a conscious choice, I think that this image in colour also would are very nice.
The white boat here is the real eye catcher and an contrast against the little bit dark sky.

Fantastic perspective that you have found here on this superb traditional boat, thanks to a optimum choice of POV. The B&W treatment works well, but it would be interesting to see a color version as a ws for comparison. I like the original crop too.

Hi Renier, another of your successful stories, here. I'd prefer the clouds a little more puffy. Using a polarizer would help.

This white arrow catches the glance et produces impact. The depth enhances that and the B&W is ok here. Quite ok.
