Photographer's Note
The Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower is my favourite aspect of Red Square. It is considered to be the main tower of the Kremlin wall, and its clock is said to show the standard time for all of Russia. On New Year's Eve, the stroke of midnight on Spasskiy Tower is broadcast on Russian television, similar to the way the ball-drop in Time's Square is broadcast accross America.
I took this photograph almost directly against the sun, which I think produced a very nice effect here because the shadows are not completely black. I have been experimenting with this technique quite a lot lately, and have noticed many other TE members doing the same. When the image turns out well, I think the result can be very evocative.
