Photographer's Note
Title inspired by PixelTerror's recent offering. View of Suzdal's kremlin and the Kamenka river, taken from behind the trading arcades about 1 hour before sunset. Cropped top a little. The gray sky gradually becoming white is a snowshower laden low cloud, not a result of blurring. Information from waytorussia.net:
FACTS. Suzdal is a small town in Vladimir region and is located 210 kilometers north east of Moscow..
There are 13 000 people living in Suzdal now.
IMPRESSION OF SUZDAL. A picturesque green town, where you can at the same time feel the russian country life and enjoy walks around fairy tale dome convents. Inside Suzdal the atmosphere is as if nothing had
changed since the nineteenth century, goats, chicken and cows graze freely next to the kremlin and monasteries, and on the grassy lanes.
The hilly green town, that looks more like a village, is very seducing, walking around is a pleasure, the monasteries offer dreaming views…
But of course as for the rest of Russia there are stricking contrasts: you would await a village bakery, and village made cheese, but the soviet system still remains and, for example, the only bread you'll find is made by the factory for Vladimir's area and is only sold in food shops. Also the small picturesque village seems to live in the ancient way only in the center: the outskirts are built with high concrete buildings.
The peaceful and inviting appearance of the town center certainely remained because of its touristic vocation: next to each monastery you'll see stalls with russian souvenirs for tourists, accomodation and most of the restaurants are quite expensive for such a small place.
But even seeing the place as it is, it's very nice to enjoy the green and calm place, to walk around its beautiful monastaries, or the Kamenska river. You can eat for cheap where the locals go, and camp for free anywhere you feel like next many monasteries or the Kremlin.
Suzdal is, perhaps, one of the most interesting and rewarding stop along the Golden Ring, as it'll give you the feeling of the countryside (especially, after the busy Moscow), there you can enjoy the ancient Russian architecture, and marvelous views.

Hi Tan,
This is a very beautiful autumn picture. And very original to me, with the special architecture of Russia. The colors are vibrant. It is sharp. The light is wonderful, the dark sky put the "towers" more in evidence. Great point of view. I repeat myself: beautiful!

Hello Tan;
I get the feeling this is a special time in Russia, as most of the photos and images I have seen are quite dark and drab. The autumn colors here are just exploding.
Nice capture,

Beautiful image, it was carefully composed and looks like a painting. You found a spot and an angle that show only the idyllic part of Russia. Is that a cloudy sky, or just a bit of haze? The color gradient due to the polarizer is rather interesting on a sky that is not blue. The think that shouldn't be there - this is of course nitpicking - is the little branch on the bottom right.

Privet Kapitan,
Otchin krasivo ! This curvy river perspective is very well lit by the golden autumn colors and the many cupolas to be seem in the background add attractivity to this scene and helps it stand out among the many fall pictures posted these days. Glad to have inspired you ;-)
Have a nice day,

Hi Tan
It is really way too much for me to digest the fact that you have so many photos with such a dramatic clouds in them ... it is as if the weather clears up when you go there to take a photo ... very nice light and great mood in this one ... Just a quick question "is it your luck with the clouds or is it your incredible preseverence that we are looking in your gallery?"
tfs ... cheers ... sarju
PS: You seem to be my opposite ... When I go out, it starts raining even on a clear day and it does not clear up ... lols

Hi Tan, The greens you get in your pictures (from Australia, Ireland and here Russia) are incredible. They are so fresh and so saturated, how do you manage to get these strong lights everywhere ? The heavy sky above the city increases the impression of a small nest hidden in the woods.

Along with the arrangement of the skyline and the natural countours defeined by the river, I liked how the grey sky allows the mostly golden leaves to be more intense. Given the right circumstances, a sharp eye might capture this combination of colors in many places. But, in this location, the rich color of the foliage made me think of the inside of old churches in Russia: all the gold, like the the sombre radiance surrounding an icon.

Hi Tan. this is on TE's opening page, and your thumbnail grabbed my attention. The composition and colours are quite stunning with the sunlight shining on them. The stomy sky emphasises the beauty of the colours. Very well done,

Hi Tan,
Just drifting through the odd name and place on TE I came across your photo of Suzdal. Everything about it is beautiful, especially the autumnal colours and the lighting. Having the town at the top of the picture at the end of the river covered in a slight mist is magincal.

Hello Tan
Lovely landscape. Good composition and exposure. The river makes a nice lead in line. My only suggestion is to clone out the stray leaf on the lower right. If your camera is like mine I can only see about 95 % in my viewing screen so things like this get missed.
