Dambulla is famous for the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. They are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings and are related to Buddha and his life. The other attraction is biggest Buddha statues in the sitting position and is actually plated with real gold. Dambulla also has a very large vegetable market where people buy fresh produce that is delivered from nearby villages.

Helo Zbigniew,
A nice photo from the market place in the town which is actually called Dambulla. The colours are good and the vegetables look fresh. The salesmen's expressions indicate that business was slow. You were lucky to have visited Sri Lanka before the present collapse of the country's economy, but maybe people were already feeling the disaster coming in 2020.

Since last year Sri-Lanka is under sever crisis, which is a great pity, Zbignew, people there are in a state of emergency.
Lucky you were able to visit this beautiful country prior to the Covid situation.

I've missed this kind of market in Asia .... whether vegetable or wet market.
Esp - the wet market , is not for the faint-hearted.
It's a very good photo of market scene ... I think I would like to see women selling vegetables than the men. Maybe they're bored of waiting for the women to turn up :-)
You know what, it's nice to see the long eggplants which I love eating. To me , they're not quite the same as the western one.
Tfs ... all these fresh vegetables I used to see.
