Photographer's Note
In 1975 we took an early morning walk up a hill in Prachaup to watch the sunrise. There were cheeky monkeys everywhere feeding off the offerings at the monastery at the top of the hill and I clearly remember them trying to grab my camera.
When we visited this beach town we saw no other foreigners. Now when I look this destination up on Trekearth I notice high-rise hotels and resorts scattered all along the coastline.
This is a scan from a kodachrome slide - it was in bad order with obvious fungi in the sky area and required a bit of post-processing to clean it up.

Hello Marlene,
The final result looks great! Colors are beautiful and I like the way the well (or is it something else with a roof?) stands in the picture. The monkey is also funny. Beautiful composition,
Christiane

Hi Marlene
Great to see some old time scans on here, your perfect PP work has done a god job cleaning up the scan. Subtle colours from the surise while the blacks show great sharpness in some areas. The monkey is placed well in the composition, is that a hut up in the tree, and if so were this your lodgings for the night? I have stayed in the Amazon in huts like these with the monkeys swinging around you while your asleep. It is quite astonishing.

Jim

Hi Marlene,
this slide proves again that the colours of a slide are the most beautiful one can find! You have captured a great atmosphere of this fascinating place! TFS this nice document!
Warm regards

Hello Marlene,
it's very good the monkeys didn't steal your camera ;) otherwise we wouldn't see many shots, inclusing this one :)
Very good scan and PP work; a photo with a special mood! I miss the sound of the water... the trees and even the little monkey look like cutouts glued to the coloured paper background. Funny effect! I like it!
best regards,
Elena

Hello Marlene,
Certainly a very tropical picture. The silhouettes of the monkey and the vegetation against the blue and violet morning sky are really impressive. If the condition of this slide was as bad as you say you have certainly done a very good job with the pp.
Best regards,
Gert

Could be a drawing or a painting...
The black shapes are excellent and the monkey is THE extra detail.
Beautiful sunset too.
You did that well !

Hello Marlene,
Again, so old- yet so fresh...
Your composition is the show-stealer here. I'm amazed how the silhouette of the monkey is so distinguishable among others shapes. Gr8 shot...
PS: the transformation of huts into resorts and hotels implies how time has changed since then...

I like the consistency of colours in this photo - just the 2 pink and purple tones along with the interesting blacks silhouettes. Good clean up work - theres no evidence of problems anymore.

Hello Marlene,
A very good composition and beautiful sunrise colours.
The silhouettes of the vegetation and of course specially of that monkey make this to a very beautiful picture.
Nice frame too.

hi Marlene
Very good capture of the silhouette to have the monkey at the best spot to view the sun.
I like the POV you showed here.

Hey Marlene!
What a beautiful silhouette on an outer-worldly sunrise. And the monkey is just posing there like it was the king of the world. And probably it was the king of its domain at the time, before the hotels and resorts were built and yet another beautiful, tranquil place was ruined.

A great one with the setting sun and the monkey. Cropping it so you just have the left side of the image makes it a powerful one. I'll add a workshop to see if this is true.

marlene
it is a nice amount of beautiful silhouets. The monkey and the sun are the stars of the compo but the graphism of these plants adds lots of beauty here too.
