Photographer's Note
As we were walking down the winding paths and stairways in to the villages in Sapa I saw this boy and he was watching this buffalo intently as if it was going to eat him. Sapa is full of daily life rural scenes and spectacular landcsapes. The colder climate in Sapa is good for growing fruits such as peaches and plums and we saw many gardens full of medicinal plants and indigo plants for dying material, and of course plenty of rice is grown on the many terraces that stretch as far as the eye can see on the hills.

Hi Wanda,
This is a great scene you’ve captured, like an image related to a fable, a story from a children book.
So much fine details and textures everywhere coming out of your B&W treatment, but with a very particular and unusual result; it’s like if you have a myriad of grayscale tones, but never getting to pure white or deep black.
The environment is quite impressive, very tropical and luxuriant.
Amicalement,
André

I like how you captured this little stand-off Wanda, although being picky I'd have preferred it if you had shifted the framing down a bit so as to include a bit of space below the buffalo's hooves. There was enough space left over at the top to do so.
Other than that, I like this a lot, and it's good to see you're still shooting film in the old K1000.
Cheers,
Ben

Pretty and funny photo Wanda. I like the sharpness here, very good details.
The ideia of "don't eat me" was well passed to us.
good work

Hi Wanda
This is a beautifull oneiric photo!
The oversharpening gives to your capture a unique atmosphere.
Well done

Hello Wanda;
Great choice of BW for this shot. It reminds me of my hard childhood in early 80s. I know where you took this as I have been here hundreds of times (used to work as tourguide). Thanks for sharing this emotional photo.

Hello Wanda,
Interesting interaction is captured!
You can really let your mind wander when seeing something like this, maybe the boy is in charge of the animal and just having a rest...
Well composed image, fitting post prosessing!

This is a good story telling picture with nice composition and POV. However, I believe it has excessive sharpening which creates that feeling of bright spots and many grey spots.

I like the composition a lot Wanda. There is a cinematic feel to it, reminds me of Ray's films. One question, who is saying "don't eat me" to whom? :)

Hi Wanda
Nice comp and good use of b&w. What scene you have set here. It would have been nice to have the whole buffalo included. But this really works. Well done.

Hi Wanda,
This B&W photo gives such a different atmosphere then a color one would do. A color one might even not have worked at all here like this one does because of the intense green colors. I like the compo here with the Buffalo, the rock and the kid in the foreground against the jungle in the back.
Well done,
Harko
