SCHOOL BUSES, a photo from La Habana, West

Photographer's Note

In North America the school bus is itself a specific type of bus distinct from other buses.

They are commonly painted an orange-yellow colour officially known as "National School Bus Chrome Yellow") for purposes of visibility and safety.

In Havana these old buses contrast with those in the background not equipped with the same devices...thought.

I like this one for the diagonal composition around the busses and for this bright, joyfull yellow color, which goes very well wih the sky. Very good sharpness here, the quality of the camera shows its mark.

Hi Rui,
Quite interesting scene with effective wide angle composition. Buses usually seen in Cuban pictures are nothing like that. Do you know where they come from? The one in the middle can't possibly be 50's American model.

I love this one, Rui.
It is a very simple compo, but it is so smart, and so eye-catching. The buses looks much longer than they really are thanks to the special angle and thanks to the narrow format.
A very good shot, well done.

interessante ver esses escolares americanos em Cuba, vai saber como entraram lá né, Cuba tem disso mesmo, uma incógnita até hoje lá também é saber de onde vieram os Fuscas (Carocha) que rodam na ilha de Fidel, são muitos e ninguém sabe a procedência deles, hehe!

Long body buses emphasized by a wide-angle lens are very impressive, the white puffy clouds also make a nice atmosphere.
I am also enjoying to use the same lens Sigma 12-24mm though the lens name can not be seen after the renewal of the site.

Ola Rui,
I always have to open photos of Cuba, since I would love to visit there. The color of the bus contrasts well with the amazing sky. Surprisingly, while most photos of Cuba have an old-fashioned feeling, this photo could have been taken in San Diego today. I don't know if the bus is modern for Cuba or if our school bus fleet is old-fashioned making a strong statement about the unwillingness to properly fund education here. However, the light seems to have underground power, something rarely seen in the rest of the Caribbean.
