Photographer's Note

At a local gym, all eyes are on the big man as he struts his stuff around.

Unlike gyms in the states, those who work out here don't sit around and chit chat. It's all busy with a line for almost all the machines and benches. There is also no fee to use the facilities so it's often very crowded throughout the day.

Complex photo, Mark: love the 'V'/ triangle (made by the hardworking fg man) enclosing all the characters, the 'background action' of this scene; then those stairs - quite a busy composition but very well thought-out.
Love the yellow wall.

Uuuh... macho, macho... icons of the latino culture.

It's only at second sight that we discover who's the real focus point of the photo, that guy in the foreground amazingly finds his place amongst the girls and the stairs, like a piece of a jigsaw puzzle.

You've probably done what you could although I'm not really enamored with the quality of light there. How about some more brightness?

Puzzling, mysterious, unreal...
A photo to study, to elaborate upon...
You know what..?
The don't do these kind of photos anymore.
They create them using some strange holographic or just graphic techniques...

Unreal and un-Cuban (if that means anything ?).

(This is the fourth time I'm coming back to this photo.
It fascinates me totally)

I agree with George here...this is a captivating photograph. Arrested by force. The guy in the front does disturb me a little but then he proberbly needs to be out of focus to bring the point across nicely. I love the betties on the stairs. I can't believe Im disagreeing with Luko on the fact that the photo needs to be brighter...I think the lighting is perfect. Good exposure good sharpness.
