This wood trusses are supposed to prevent the facades collapse. They are supposed to “work” in compression without buckling..
Although this is a technical language anyone understands that these are pseudo structural systems ....
The safety is simply psychological ..believe me..

Excellent shot. Very interesting. I've seen lots of braces on buildings in Havana but none like tis. Do you remember what street this was?

Rui, thanks to your guidance through your favorite shots I was guided to this architectural masterwork. I have to agree with you that your composition values a lot the scene. Being only a psychological element I hope that you didn't remain for a long while there to experience an eventual collapse ... :-)
