Photographer's Note
As I wondered through the landfill taking photos, I came upon these children. I had nothing to offer them but the gum in my backpack. They took everyone last piece and savored the mint with joy. Afterwards they went back to work, continuing to sort through garbage.

A sad world while they know not better being raised here, nice to see that boy in front and good use of DOF to spot his wondering gaze out, the crop on the man behind the girl is a bit curious. I like the centered scene pulling all attention. The good quality photo is really contrasting the situation there.

Wow. Powerful stuff. I love the high POV and composition. You seem to be very careful about what is in the background of all your photos which is great. It's those little touches that really make the difference. The DOF is good. you can see expressions, arm cast, dirty feet, knives, garbage... all this while keeping the depth and blurriness.
The eyes are amazingly sharp. I know Manny sharpens the eyes of all his photos extra. Almost looks like that here.
Great photo. JP

I must say that while some of your pictures from the market are really good, I have serious doubts about this garbage serie here.
Well, they (the pictures) are in a way interesting, as they show something we cannot see normally, but from photographic point of view they're not really surprising - except maybe for the boy on a bicycle (I mean from those three on TE) - after some shock of seeing children on this garbage field (but reduced after seeing many from Cambodia) I must say there's nothing really special in this one
I really miss some broader context, something more personal from you than just showing - look, those kids are sitting in the garbage, and they are poor.

This kid's gaze is really powerful. I'm wondering why so few points. I am guessing that the kid's gaze deserves to be the subject of the photo -- a bit like the famous McQueen of the green-eyed Afghani girl -- if we had fewer BG distractions, maybe -- if the bokeh were more intense and you were lower, i.e. closer to your subject's eye level. But also one of the strengths of this photo is that the dirty ground is the perfect backdrop -- perfect in colour and in context. If only it weren't so bright. It would be perfect if it were in a darker tonal range, just a shadowy dirt background with bokeh'd debris around. And no BG kids. Too much to ask for? Hmmm... I'll let you be the judge! Still, strong, good photojournalism.
