Photographer's Note

This is one of the two fountains on Michaelerplatz at Hofburg in Vienna, Austria. They were commissioned in 1880s to demonstrate the power of the Austro-Hungarian Empire on the land and sea. Created by Rudolf Weyr (1847 - 1914), Austrian sculptor in the Neo-Baroque style. The Empire dissolved after WWI, but the fountains are still a major tourist attraction in Vienna. This picture is scanned from a 1962 B&W photo.
