Photographer's Note

This shot is of St. Michael's Church in Vienna, one of the oldest buildings in the city with parts of it remaining unchanged since 13th century. What makes this church famous, though, is a large crypt underneath where thousands of noblemen and aristocrats were buried throughout the centuries, until 1783. At present, hundreds of mummified corpses are on display, some in the open coffins.
