Bench in danger, a photo from Vienna, East

Photographer's Note

When walking around the big complex of the Imperial Castle in Vienna it is natural to pass those statues at Michaelerpaltz. I do not know anything about the statues, I just shot a picture at random when passing bye. But looking at it at home I saw something else, it is a dramatic version on the lonely bench theme. I guess this bench will stay lonely as the threat from above will make anyone sitting their a bit uneasy even in a better climate.
If you pass through the opening between the statues you end up under a wonderful old dome, it is a bit dark and dull in daytime but wonderfully illuminated at night. And it is really just in a street, you are not entering anything in particular.

You make Vienna look so beautifull Ebbe. i can't wait to see it for myself. It is a nice compostion and the colours are really, really good. No blue cast at all. Love the bench.

Great shot Ebbe ,the angle ,the color,the quality .. this seat helps us to know the real diminution of the shot .. well done

Very nice. It would be unnerving to sit on that bench with such a violent statue above. Nice composition. Nice sharpness. It would be nice to have lighting on the statues to create shadows but on the lonely bench theme this grey setting works very nicely. Good job.

I think you have found a very original way of presenting on TE different architectural elements, by accenting on one or another detail. The humor here is smoothly going together with your story and you make us look first at the small bench, then at the huge statues and finally - at the old doom. This way there is nothing left unnoticed! The almost sepia tones are soflty colorized by the bench and make it unique combination! Beautiful composition. Admirations, Ebbe!

Amazing details, nice composition and a good, entertaining note. The statues almost seem too white to be in the center of a mayor, cental European city. It is as if they were newly cut out, leaving a lot of marble dust laying around. But I understand, that they recently have been washed and that the bench and the ground are covered by snow! Not so imaginative, but nevertheless... ;o)

And as usual well seen and a "great capture" from you, Ebbe!

Good composition, Ebbe. Great detail. I like the angle of the shot and the way you have included the arch. Although, I might have cropped the photo just above the bench. Good note.
