Yesterday was a real summer day for my bike ride, 35°C, but I can cycle almost completely in the shade.

3 km of Damme and 3 km of Hoeke

No wind so the canal was like a mirror

Description:
This protection concerns the Damse Vaart, including the canal vegetation along it.

Values:
The Damse Vaart with canal planting of rising poplars is protected as a monument because of the general interest formed by the: spatial-structuring value
The high-rising Canada poplars and the canal dikes along the Damse Vaart have a very strong spatial-structuring effect, accentuating the location of the early 19th century canal between Bruges and Sluis. This effect is reinforced by the otherwise very flat surrounding polder landscape. The spatial structuring value is complementary to but on the other hand deviating from the ascending rows of trees along the nearby polder dikes, including the Krinkeldijk and the Romboutswervedijk.

Hello John,
This canal is almost hidden by the dense vegetation, almost like in the tropics. 35 °C is almost like a tropical climate. The long line of trees on the right side and their reflections in the calm water are familiar from many other photos, but this time you also included yellow flowers and other plants in the foreground. It is a good and sharp photo with a strong atmosphere of summer.

Hallo John, the low viewpoint creates an excellent depth. The repetition of the trunks and their reflection on the canal is pleasant to see. These trees in line were hand planted along the water. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

here the trunk of the trees has tilted aspect and created a special view with their reflections in the waters of the canal. very beautiful.

Wederom één van je betere kanaalfoto's!
Prachtige lange rijen bomen langs het water met mooi weerspiegelde stammen.
De bloemen en planten zorgen voor een geschikte voorgrond.
De foto werd eergisteren genomen. Het moet wel puffen geweest zijn op je fiets.

Hallo John,
Een heel mooie zomerfoto waarop niet te zien is dat het zo onvoorstelbaar heet is. De lange rechte vaart wordt mooi omlijst door het vele groen dat in een aangenaam warm licht te zien is.

Hello John,

You have previously posted some delightful photographs of canals and their edging lines of poplar trees but this has to be one of your best!
Besides clearly showing the straight character of the canal and its protective trees, you have helped to create a wonderful sense of depth by anchoring the f/g with the sapling and wild flowers. The converging lines of trees and canal create an amazing, long perspective.

Canals are major subject on your gallery, John, an endless theme which offers a wonderful sights.
