PAPINGLO.
Second picture this with the entrance of the two buildings
History:
The Papinglo abbey farm is located in Maldegem-Kleit, on the southern corner of the Kleitkalseide (old road) and the N44, known by many tourists as a connecting road between Aalter and Maldegem towards Knokke. The Papinglo domain, the first written reference of which can be found in a document from 1170, is situated in the Maldegemveld, in the 12th century still a wild heathland that was gradually brought into cultivation, together with the Drongengoedhoeve (Ursel) and the Burkelhoeve (Clay).
In the meantime, the farm has been converted into a hotel restaurant. The barn was demolished and is now a hotel, the stable a restaurant and the house retains its function. Although the Papinglo domain is not the core from which Kleit originated, it has exercised an important attraction since the Middle Ages to settle in its surroundings. The population of Kleit has therefore always felt closely involved with Papinglo, hence the desire to maintain the domain. Kleit has always remained part of Maldegem without being an independent congregation, although the parish had its own church from 1863 onwards.
I hope you like it.

Hallo John,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hallo John
The sky is really a gift 'from the Heaven' in this colorful view on the transformed abbaye farm! I presume the two central columns were supporting a stone arch because the top plates are inclined toward the center of the stone alley.
You show a magnificent refurbished view a yesteryears, integral part of an inviting touristic attraction!

Hello John,
The four large columns make an unusual entrance to a restaurant. If the food is as elegant and stylish as the gate it must be an expensive place. You seem to have been hit by a shower during your bicycle ride, but the wet cobble stones give the photo a very pleasant shiny tone. The clouds breaking up after the rain are still quite impressive and very nicely shaped. They are perfectly exposed, and so is the entire photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo John,
Die groten pilaren aan beide zijden van de ingang lijken wel schoorstenen door die grote witte wolken er precies achter. Een heel mooi gezicht op dit complex met een prachtige achtergrond en aangenaam licht.

Hi John,
The length of the path is creating depth. The point of view is showing the detaild of the columns and of the buildings. The colors are beautiful Have a nice day.

Hello John
One of your better POVs. The gate and clouds really made this image pop. Sharpness and saturation are tops.

Hi John
you couldn't have asked for better clouds, this is very impressive. It would be wonderful to have these clouds in all of our scenes :) I really like the wet cobble stones too, and the old columns. great subjects to view all over the frame

Hallo John,
The 4 weathered old brick columns adorning the entrance give this image the look of an old Greek or Roman historic site. Good sharpness and lighting. Tfs!

Hi John
Fascinating place, with very long history. I really like the gate made of columns and how you captured the cobbles in the foreground.

Hi John
A really well balanced image with a lovely sky reflected in the cobbles. The pillars draw you forward to see what you can find.

A well preserved and restored four columns from 12th century, John.
They look to keep guard of the complex entrance, well taken a frontal POV.
Good afternoon,

Hello John,
You have supplied some very interesting notes about this place, now a hotel and restaurant.
These pillars are an unusual feature, standing without any other building. Maybe they were once a gateway but now control the access for cars. As a photographic feature, the are tall and commanding, a fine f/g focal point. Beyond them are the interesting buildings which you describe.
Though the weather looks fine, it would appear, by the shiny cobbles, that rain fell a short time ago.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Dear John,
Seems like a nice place to visit. Since its an abbey farm, I wonder if they make (or used to make) beer. :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello John,
Interesting historic site. The photo is very good ... Despite the blue sky the cobblestones appear to be wet, which gave the photo a different shine. It must be a pleasant place to get to know and frequent the restaurant that works in this classic place.
Best wishes from Brazil

Hi John,
very impressive entrance. I have never seen a similar entrance before.
Very interesting light: when I first looked at the pavement it appeared in miniature so shiny that I thought it will be one of the channels which you photographed.
The sky is fabulous too.
Beautiful place,
Excellent capture,

Hi John.
A beautiful view of this villa, those four brick columns are something very curious at the entrance of the town, the typical houses, trees and a very pictorial sky create a charming composition.
Great color that highlights the beauty of the image.
Nice work. That we enjoy.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello John,
In the thumbnail image, the wet cobblestone looked like water. Very pretty, even if it isn't water.
