Photographer's Note
The old town of Nesebar is located on a small peninsula, it is interesting that there are 41 churches (or ruins of churches).
In my photo you can see ruins of the St. Sophia Church.
St. Sophia Orthodox Church is located in the center of the ancient town. The church has a total length of 25.5 m and a width of 13 meters. It had formerly a two sloping roof which unfortunately has not survived to this day. The interior of the church was once painted with frescoes. The entire floor was covered with a mosaic made of small colored stones. The church was built in the late fifth and sixth centuries. Its present appearance dates back to the ninth century, when the church was rebuilt after being destroyed. The church was abandoned in the eighteenth century.

Ryszard, that very old church is in ruins nowadays. It can be visited by the tourists in Nessebar. Some signs provide information about the site history. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Ryszard,
I imagine there are still some traces of the old paintings inside the church. From this angle we see the entire length of the interior and the area in front of the ruin. There are enough people to make the view quite lively, and judging from the their clothes and the light it was a hot day. That is even more obvious from the WS where people are seeking shelter in the shade. Considering the strong light and quite strong contrasts both photos are very well exposed.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Ryszard,
You have written a fascinating historical note about this church and shown us two delightful photographs of its ruins.
It seems so sad that a church which was originally built more than 1,500 years ago and then rebuilt a thousand years ago should have been abandoned and allowed to fall to ruins in the 18th century. Was that maybe because Nesebar itself became depopulated?
Your two photographs have been taken in glorious sunlight and have rich colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness. Both are excellent and I think your main picture is the one I prefer as it includes several people who add human interest and also give an excellent sense of scale.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Ryszard, it is a shame that this church is now in ruins, it must have been very fine before it was abandoned.
You have given us two excellent pictures. I like the presence of the people.
Very good sharp quality. Interesting notes.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ryszard,
The photo offers an excellent overview of the ruins of the old church. The sunlight was bright and appealing and also added a nice play of light and shadows. The people add a fine mood.
