Photographer's Note

The Old Town Hall in Prague is one of the city's most visited monuments. It is located in Old Town Square. In 1835 the south wing was further extended by the addition of a fourth house, "the Cock house", bought by the Town Council that year. In this very old building the Romanesque hall from the beginning of the 13th century has been preserved, and on the first and second floor are Late-Gothic halls with Renaissance ceilings. The facade was renovated in the first half of the 19th century in Empire style.

Hi Daniel

Well managed backlight with impeccable sharpness and excellent framing and composition. Good shadow detail and punchy light contrasts. The Town Hall looms over the ever present crowds. Tfs!

You handled the backlight well. I like how the tower rises in front of the sun, but my favourite part is the left side where the persons standing in the sunlight look like they are carrying halos on their heads.

Hello Daniel,

You used the tower extremely well, to shield your camera from the direct sunlight, and create an attractive halo around the pointed spires.
The figures are cast into shadows but in an intriguing way, with contrasts, depending whether in exposed or shady areas.
I like how the lamps stand out so well against the blue sky.

It is always a great pleasure to see photos from Prague. The Old Town Hall stands out very proudly from the blue sky and the bright sunlight right behind it. The many people form a nice foreground as well.
