Spaghetti and coffee, a photo from Olomoucky, Moravia

You may wonder why I show a photo like this. Well, I'm not really sure. It is certainly nothing special, but I like the matching colours, two persons facing the opposite directions, two windows, two framed blackboards. There seems to be nothing happening, but maybe the young man decided to have lunch here.

I noticed this glimpse of daily life in the city of Olomouc in northeastern Czech Republic. To give you an idea of the price level the rate for the Czech Koruna last week was 50 to 1,9 Euro.

I took this photo about 20 seconds before this, and about 25 seconds before this.

If you want to have a closer look at this place the map coordinates are 49.596493, 17.258342. The Google camera seems to have been here twice, so you may find this restaurant still in place, or you may see there is now instead a shop advertising Kodak products.

Hello Gert,
The best thing about photos like this one is the fact that you can invent a whole story about what happened here between the two people. Who are they, why are they there, do they know each other, if yes, why are they walking away from each other? The bright colours that can be seen, especially the green, blue and yellow, stand out very nicely from the grey background.

Hello Gert,

I find it so interesting that some words have slipped into international language so that we can understand some things no matter where we are. Food seems to be at the top of the list as fas as that is concerned!
I immediately thought ... mmm, the young lady just walks on, maybe thinking about her figure; the young man has no such hang-ups! Anyway, he will soon cycle off the calories!
Yes, it's a shot of two halves, linked but contrasting!

A street scene well caught, I can easily read the restaurant menu but the prices not having any meaning to me. Yet, the guy with the bikes, was notably interested and reading it.

Hello Gert,
It is true that Italian food can be found virtually anywhere in the world. Although nothing special, this is in fact a very interesting composition for the reasons you have already noted and is certainly worth a second glance. Excellent technical quality.
The grey splodge in my composition is down to some water spots on the filter. Something I didn't realise until I got home and saw the images. Some were easy to correct others were not as is the case here.

Hello Gert,

The best lasagna I ever had was in Czech Republic. It had a creamy mushroom sauce topping. Anyway the restaurants here reminded me of my 3 month sojourn there. Italian cuisine is deservedly very popular. This town was a bit too far north of me for a daytrip though. Good framing and symmetry. Tfs!

Le titre pourrait être aussi, la jolie fille et le cycliste. Beaucoup de choses à voir dans ce cadrage précis , mais pas assez pour pouvoir lire le menu au complet.

I have to admit, these are not my favorite shots of yours, but i"m also admittedly trying really hard to appreciate it and understand where you're coming from - rather than just dismissing it and moving on. I know you like these, so lets give it some respect.

I get the part about seeing the two people facing opposite directions. stories and mysterious can abound if you allow your mind to go there.

the neon is a good touch, and most of all I like the weird writing on the top right in the store front.

To me, its about the mystery of the possible meeting between the two. cheers

in una foto dove ci sono spaghetti e caffè c'è sempre qualcosa di speciale ;-)
In ogni caso si tratta di una bella scena, un pezzo di vita che scorre, qualcuno si ferma per mangiare, altri vanno a mangiare a casa con la spesa nella borsa.

A curious image, which shows us the atmosphere of this street in day to day, the lady walking very summer and the cyclist looking at the menu of the pizzeria, which is a good background image.

From this picture, everybody can think of a story; for my part I feel the biker wants some pasta to keep on biking whereas the lady is coming out of the shop after having a nice cup of coffee.

Hello Gert, I remember well you picture with vodka:). Nice picture of this spagetarna, less controversial view. One can have something to eat quite cheap. :). Nice observation and story to it. Interesting to look at menu. And here I can understand everything, not like in China :).

My backpack is waiting :). I come late evening to Korfu and then go to Saranda. But are there ferries in the night? Maybe we will be waiting at night in the harbour and go Albania in the morning.

Wow, I have never managed to take three pictures in less than 30 seconds to post on this site. You're a fast photographer. Perhaps due to the many experience.
Pasta is regularly and in large portions on the menu of a cyclist. So the young man came to the right place.
The young woman was deeply sunk in mind. She doesn't notice much of her surroundings anymore.

Indeed almost all elements come in pairs here. Except for the bike which introduces some artistic asymmetry. :-)
I remember the story of the dog and the lady you photographed here but didn't realise there was another photo taken in between...

I liked the compo, the personages are natural and interacting in opposite sides. the name of the place wrote with espaguetis is curious too. in fact, while travelling, sometimes the local food isn't nice for me and I am obligated frequently to eat in italian restaurants. problem is sometimes the local spices invade the italian plates as occurred with me in greece, india and morocco...

Gert, nice daily life photo captured in Olomouc. The girl in blue just walks in the street, she is not interested by the restaurant. On the contrary, the cyclist in green is reading the blackboard where the menu is written. He will probably order some pastas or a coffee. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
