Photographer's Note
It's been a while since I've posted anything to TrekEarth (I've been super-busy this year!) but time now to start adding a few posts from my travels over the past 12 months. Given that Copenhagen is the centre of the world's attention right now, I thought it would be appropriate to start with one from that city.
This shot was taken in the middle of summer when the colourful architecture of Nyhavn can be seen at its best. There are probably more photographs of Nyhavn on the Internet than any other part of Copenhagen, so with that in mind I looked for an opportunity to shoot something a little different. This old sailing ship provided the perfect opportunity, enabling me to shoot through the rigging to give it a real maritime feel.
I shot this first at 1/200 f/8, but the rigging was not sufficiently out of focus, so I shot it again at 1/800 f/4 to reduce the DOF a little.
For those TEers who may not have been to Nyhavn (and I expect there are only a few), it is a canal not far from the city centre that is lined with bars and gets really packed out in the summer – especially at weekends when it is almost standing room only. See the extra picture in the Workshop (here) for an idea of how busy the bar crowds get.

Hello David
I too have this same scene in my gallery. The colours of the shops along the canal are stunning. and yes, you've managed to create a scene thats somewhat different, with it taken thru the ship.
creative work, now i wish i had done the same!
Excellent photo all around

Hi David
Long time no see, welcome back !
It's a luminous and colorful image from Nyhavn with the foreground boat part telling how the city is linked to the sea, beyond that we see how popular the place is due to the many people on the promenade
have a nice day JY

Hi David, A place I loved when there, I particularly like your choice of view through the rigging, it adds a slightly different prospective, you have captured the colours of the buildings wonderfully well & very good light through-out, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hello David,
This is a masterpiece in photography and framing. The lines from the sailboats create a virtual veil through which one can see the row houses in the harbor. Colorful, well composed, perfectly exposed, and tastefully framed. Well done.
I want to try your framing scheme on some of my photos, or artwork.
Warm regards.

Hello David
Nihavn is often taken in picture, but you managed to have an interesting forefront with the wooden mast and the red cotton sails.
Well thought and done
Cheers
