Photographer's Note

Rehtorit is a band that plays Ramones style rock in Finnish language. Here's the singer, Rehtori Reponen Jr, in Vastavirta club, Tampere. It's a bit pity that music that once was revolutionary is nowadays considered curiosity without commercial potential.

Camera phone shot, noise filtered. Posterisation effect looks strong on stage lights.

I agree with your note Kari, but unfortunatly that's the orrible music business... :o(

about the photo... I find your work on the noise and the low quality of the phone-camera really well done ...and in-tune with the subject...

Hi Kari,
In the thumbnail he looks like a warrior in a helmet, even when the opened photo reveals an amazing Mohawk, the impression persists with the strong jaw, high chishled cheekbones and the strong arms. It's hard to believe you shot this with a camera phone; you got a real rock club feel with this warrior of rock, his flying hand over the guitar neck, the backup and the bright lights. I think the blown-out bits may enhance the harsh feeling of a rock concert. It is a pity that his revolution has become a curiosity. He's working so hard!!

Considereing it was a phone camera the quality isn't so bad. The motion blur, noise and over-exposed highlights kind of add to the affect which fits with the subject.

I'd consider eliminating the bright light behind her arm. You managed to capture the atmosphere quite well despite (or perhaps because of) the low quality camera.
