Photographer's Note

Still photos don't describe well the fast moving sport of ice hockey. I still wanted to show this because Ice Hockey World Championship is the big thing here in Tampere at the moment. The main venue of the games is the new arena of Tampere. This is from the game between Finland and Great Britain. Finland won 6-0.
The Workshop shows overall view before the start of the second period.
(Map view is not up to date and does not show the arena built above the railway.)

Hello Kari,
It is still a great action photo of the icehockey match. Let's see if Finland can turn the home advantage into winning the World Cup, a 6-0 win is a good start.

HI Kari,years ago I went to see Hockey's matches, when Milan had a good team, then my passion passed away. I know the game well, which in Scandinavian countries is very popular, congratulations for the victory but certainly Great Britain is not the strongest opponent in the world .. hehehe .. congratulations also for the quality of the photos, the total view in the WS is great.Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

I understand this kind of photos are not so easy to take, so you did well, but I had to search the larger photo to find the blurred puck flowing in the air. ;-)
Why don't you mention that Sweden also beat Great Britain 6–0 and defeated Finland 3–2? But I guess in the end Finland will win anyway?

What happened to Canada? Did they get knocked out in the semi finals? They are also very keen ice hockey players. Good elevated pov with superb sharpness and nice to see Finland win. Tfs!

Hello Kari,

I don't think ice hockey is a national sport in the U.K. yet. I'm not surprised that we weren't doing too well!WE don't have many ice rinks capable of staging the sport.

I played hockey for many years but ice hockey is very, very different! It is so fast!
Anyway, you have done a fine job of keeping the players sharp, despite their speed around the pitch!

I am not much into sports but international competitions are sometimes interesting to watch. Well, the Team GB didn't seem to be too successful...
Great photos. You have well captured the players with their sticks in such nice poses. The bright ice must have been difficult to capture with everything else being dark but you have managed it very well.
