Absolutely Wonderful Shot!
The composition, with the position of the old gent cropped tightly behind, and the lady, looking, or maybe not, from above, and the sparrows stopped sharply with a fast (well chosen) shutter speed. The magazine or newspaper under the bench adds interest, and I even find myself wondering what might be lurking in the background behind the fence. Certainly not distracting, just adding more interest to a very deep shot.
Dropping the colour has definitely added a great deal, and is another reason for the success of this shot.
Fabulous!
My only regret, there isn't a face more smiling than the dark green smily to chose below to rate this photo any higher. (*^_^*)

Great composition and nearly miraculous timing, with the row of birds flowing to his hand, almost like a time-lapse photo of a single bird. The old woman in the background is like a time capsule from another era, adding to an old-world feel in this image. I think your choice of b&w is good. Powerful photojournalism that brings the viewer into this quiet moment.

What a classic shot! It works great in black and white. The woman's cane leads one's eyes to the birds, and finally to the man feeding them (or vice-versa).

Beautiful. Woman, man and birds are catched at the right moment, giving a unique peaceful feeling. There is a kind of very engaging atmosphere reminding of Doisneau.

I particular like the row of birds flying in an arc towards his hand. Plus the one facing the lense like a hummingbird.

To me one of the best shots I've seen on the TreckEarth. What a contrast resides in this picture! Small-large, vivid-tired, dynamic-static. Beautifull tonal range, timing, composition... wish I made it.

Wonderfull picture! The scene seems so tranquil. Everything is so still and calm...even the birds are either patiently waiting for the bread on the ground or queueing to feed from the mans hand ! The choice to change to colour was a wise one in my opinion. One could easily have focused in on the birds and zoomed in more tightly but you avoided that trap.

What a beautiful shot.
Everything is at its place, the old man, the old woman the birds, particularely the one standing on the hand.
Wonderfull

Looks like b/w classics, and only the use of the wide angle (which was not that popular some 50 years ago, as far as I know) shows that it was made nowadays. Great idea - turning it into b/w.
