Photographer's Note

Here a presentation in some photographs, of two jewels of medieval architecture : the church and the monastery.

First of all, with this photograph, the splendid Gothic church blazing built at the 16th century.
The church is unused but preserved a splendid inheritance : one rood screen, 74 made of wood stalls extraordinarily worked and three splendid tombs of the three characters at the origin of the construction of the church and its monastery : Philibert the Beautiful, Marguerite de Bourbon and Marguerite of Austria.

Marguerite of Austria, widow of Philibert the Beautiful, decided to devote the remainder of her life to carry out the wish made and not held by her mother-in-law, Marguerite de Bourbon.
The latter had promised to transform into monastery the humble priory of Brou if her husband, Philippe, Count de Bresse were restored of an accident of hunting.
But Marguerite de Bourbon died without to have had time to carry it out.

Unfortunately, Marguerite of Austria died a few months before the completion of all these contructions.
Fabulous destiny of this princess : Orphan of her mother at the age of 2 years, married the following year with the Dolphin Charles, repudiated 5 years later, she marries at 17 years the heir to Spain, loses her husband after a few months of union, puts at the world a still-born child, and marries, 4 years afterwards, Philibert of Savoy which died 3 years later.
Shy only was 24 years!
