Photographer's Note

From the top of Tête de Rame, a.k.a. Tête des Chétives. The view from up there, at 2644m, which is an altitude reasonable enough to receive a host of sheep from the coomb 1000m beneath, is fantastic enough to encompass the mountains ranging from the Dévoluy to the Taillefer, along the flat crest of Vercors. Those ranges are all running south of Grenoble, Dévoluy being mostly in the Hautes-Alpes department. The incredible mesa-like pillar in the middle of the far hazy distance is the Obiou, the wild treasure of Dévoluy, culminating at 2789m, which is huge as compared to the vicinity.
Tête de Rame can be reached either from Valsenestre, near Valbonnais, which is the part joining Malsanne valley to the depression where La Mure sleeps, or from Confolens, a small village known for its waterfall, which is reached from Le Perier, a hardly less small village in Malsanne Valley. Denivelation is about the same I reckon, the Confolens path being longer.
It is the highest summit of a crest that runs from Labarre lake and the Roméiou pass above (2439m), to the Arcanier (about 2500m) above the Gary lake.
The average walk to those marvels is 5h. But patience is well-awarded, and if you have patience, it will overcome difficulties that here arise only from eagerness.
Have a nice harvest for that new year, of dreams and of dream-likenesses! :)

Hi Francois,
I like this mountain scenery. The mountains in the background look impressive. The sheep in the foreground add a nice touch to the composition. I think the colours are too saturated and there is toomuch contrast but the picture is very nice.

hi francois, nice picture, nice view and POV, i like the fact that you have captured the sheep this far up the mountain, but its a pity that you cut a few of them in half! nice shot all the same, thanks for sharing.

Although the mountains are higher and a bit more rocky looking, and the sheep are different, this reminds me a lot of mountain landscapes here in the UK.
I like this; the haze on the horizon enhances the sense of distance and the size of the mountains, and those sheep make a great foreground and give life to the scene.
It looks a beautiful place.
Cheers,
Ben
