Photographer's Note
There are mainly two routes that you can follow from St Jean- Pied-de-Port, to Roncesvallis; the easy way is to follow the main highway over the Ibaneta pass to Spain. I decided to take the more scenic and historical “Napoleon’s pass” over the Pyrenees. Apparently called so because the general marched his troops on this route, to conquer Spain some 200 years ago. Rumor has it that Hannibal did the same with his elephant’s way back in the dark Ages.
From Orisson onwards the climbing got real bad at times, with the rain that came down in buckets and the wind that want to sweep you of your feet.

Hello Susanita
A wet and a cold day as it appears from the dress of the people. Very cold as also evidenced from the barren trees. I thank you for allowing us to be on the virtual trip with you through your shots taken from your camino.
Best Regards
