THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE 1
" Le manoir de Pennarun" built in the 16th century used to be the property of the family Toutenoutre; now it has belonged to the family De La Brosse who inherited it and have lived there for over half a century.
With this photo, I am adding to Didi's theme: " the place where I live ". This is the manor house I could see from my primary school a long time ago! It used to make us dream of past luxurious life, and on summer day art classes, we would sit in the schoolyard and try our beginners'sketches on this nice piece of architecture . We were even invited by the residents once to visit the place as a schoolparty, which we did in awe, wishing we were back in the olden days.
As a WS, I am adding a picture of the primary school in question, situated the other side of the valley. That was built at the beginning of the 20th century, but nicely renovated to keep its former style. It still resounds of the laughs of the young generation who continue enjoying the view over the picturesque manor.

Great shot of a really beautiful building. Nice angle with the lightning on the castle wall there. Like the coloured building in the background - it gives a good contrast.

like Achim I must say, this is a beautiful building. And I like the way you show this to us with the perspective, the colors and the light. Also the small shadow in front is nice.
It is easy to share your impressions from that time you wrote in your note with this view.

Jolie photo de cet ancien manoir, visiblement maintes fois remanié...
J'aime bien la tourelle d'escalier (hexagonale ?) visible derrière la haute cheminée.
On a envie d'aller voir ça de plus près...

Effectivement un point de vue admirable et j'envie ceux qui habitent à proximité.
Le cadrage est très appréciable.
Sans vouloir faire le vilain petit canard je suggère une légère sous exposition à la prise de vue pour faire mieux apparaitre la texture de la pierre, la partie à l'ombre à influencé le capteur.

qué luz más difícil y directa, lo has hecho bien, la foto no presenta demasiada sobreexposición, que casi es imposible de impedir sin sacrificar el equilibrio entre luz y sombras.
Es una buena foto de arquitectura, tu ángulo la muestra con elegancia.

Bonjour Marie-Louise,
Ta visite sur ma galerie est l'occasion pour moi de découvrir la tienne.
J'aime beaucoup cette composition avec un angle de prise de vue qui valorise bien le bâtiment mais il est domage que le cadrage ampute une partie de la toiture. Je touve que l'éclairage un petit peu violent surexpose la scène.
A bientôt sur TE pour de nouvelles aventures.

Ca m'a vraiment l'air d'être un endroit merveilleux où grandir, et je pense que les autres enfants qui ont usé leur fond de pantalon sur les bancs de l'école doivent aussi e avoir un souvenir ému (en tout cas pour ceux que l'école ne rebutait pas trop).
La composition est simple et bien vue. C'est juste un peu dommage d'avoir coupé le toit d'ardoises du premier plan, mais c'est un détail.

Hello Marie Louise,
effectivement, c'est le genre de vue qui peut faire rêver des étudiants du primaire! La mienne donnait sir un grand champ et au loin on pouvait seulement voir de gros immeubles à logement...moins beau un peu;)
Le jeu d'ombre et de lumière est intéressant. C'est difficile de faire ressortir des photos d'architecture, mais celle-ci est bien faite. Je crois que tu avais affaire à un éclairage sévère du midi ou de l'après-midi...ça fait que ton appareil à surexposé un brin...on perd des détails. bahhh, c'est pas grave!!

Il y a des écoliers qui ont de la chance d'avoir une vue pareille de leur fenêtre. J'aime cette architecture massive mais élégante avec son grand toit d'ardoise. Je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de faire une petit WS pour équilibrer la lumière et renforcer le contraste.

Hello Marie Louise,

Yes, it is a nice old building, and I like the shadows on the walls the way you have captured them. Without the slate roof, it wouldn't be as dignified. But the roof is surprisingly steep, they must have plenty of snow in that are. I visited Pays de la Loire in 2008 and 2009 and have seen great number of buildings with the slate roofs (although not as steep as this one), old and new, big and small, the slate is used there as a building material for the walls too. I have many photos of such buildings, and might be posting some of them on TE. Thanks for referring me to this photo, it's really nice to see that you enjoyed so nice view as a girl!
